It was extremely clear that cursing in public, or really at all, was only done around LSU/Saints sporting events. My parents didn't curse other than that and I knew if I got caught cursing that there would be hell to pay. The line not to cross was laid out plain as day.

We call those ‘hunting camp rules’

‘Whatever you hear at the camp, don’t bring that stuff around your mother son‘

i heard that my whole life from my father. Makes sense. You can’t keep children sheltered from that stuff forever

I will never question the people who say it’s embarrassing and all that Jazz. I get it, I really do. But at the same time, is it really that harmful? Does clutching pearls over it do ANY good? What’s the worst that can come from a student body doing a chant that has profanity in it?

In the long run, it hurts nothing. I’ve never heard a recruit say anything negative about NECK, and I’ve never heard of any entity denying sponsorship because of it

Scrub, sorry for being a dick earlier. My b

Huh? No one is saying that or if they are they are not correct. It is just trashy, and standing next to your 8 year old at an event he looks forward to, you look forward to, and is supposed to be a fun time for all, no one should not have to worry about being told to suck a tiger dick bitch....it really is just that simple.

It offers nothing.

There was this retard in my high school that would say 'suck my dick' in an odd voice when the teacher would turn their back. He thought it was sooo funny, but everyone knew he was a dumbass.

Tiger Stadium has 20,000 of these retards in it every Saturday now.

You know, the minute you decide something is crude and shouldn't be said, you only give it strength. We decided curse words were offensive, so now 'frick' and 'shite' have a status they never had before. Had we not deemed these words offensive, they probably would be considered as archaic as a hippy saying 'groovy' or 'far out'. The same thing is happening here. Because you (and others) find the chant offensive, it is surely going to linger.

Hypocrite. The R word is as bad as the N word to those with special needs. That slur is so offensive!!!

I unironically get more offended by people calling other people retards than I do STTDB

Every argument you can make about one being trashy can be leveled at the other just as easily, it’s honestly pretty hypocritical

No one is telling kids (especially ones in purple) to STTDB.

Like I said many pages ago, I wish the chant would go away because I want neck back and I think its played out and not a great look for the university.

But your feelings and your children are not the reason it should go away.

Games at Tiger stadium are for adults. You are allowed to bring your children if you'd like but you should be fully aware that you are bringing them to an adult venue. You wouldn't bring your kids to a Bar and then be surprised that the drunks are cursing would you?

They don’t do it because it’s cool. Because it’s not.

They do it just because it’s offensive and there is no real consequence.

I agree with your first two statements. Not sure I agree with your second two though, although I respect your opinions. (that's all any of us have anyway :)

When I was a student in the mid-80s, the worst thing the student section chanted was "kick their arse" at the end of the 3 short 'da da da DAA' - LSU on offense cheers.
Don't try to equate that to 'STTDB' and 'a-hole, a-hole', and 'you suck, you suck,' because it's not.

When I was a kid going to the games in the 70s and early 80s, I vividy remember 'Tiger Rag' being played. When I was a student too. I just miss it.

How is it today that Tiger Stadium should suddenly be equated to a barroom? If there's ANY family friendly environment - it should be Tiger Stadium. It's not an "adult venue" ONLY....

I just don't get how people can DEFEND the juvenile and humiliating chants that, somehow, the University allows to trash the entire nation watching on TV, kids and parents, and alumni in the stands, and our University.

Unbelievable.

So the whole "start em young" and "lifetime Tiger fans", and all the stories, told with fondness, about times in the stadium with your kids is just bullshite. All that is cool. Kids tossing the football around tailgates cant happen because of keg stands and rap. No one can find a trash can and leave the place a dump, and we cant filter our language. Our culture is pretty trashy. No wonder we suck so bad.

Oh the horror of neck. I pray none of you offended pussies ever go to a soccer game in europe.

Louisiana people are trashy in general. Not many states can you walk in a gas station and come out with a fifth of crown or go through a drive thru daquiri shop that gives you alcohol ready to drink. Neck fits the culture perfectly IMO

What do you tell your kids when you see someone do this? Do you just walk right by or do you tell them that it's wrong to do that?

What do I do? We attend MANY sporting events, I ALWAYS pick up loads of trash and insist my 8 and 10 year old help me. They dont like it, they wonder why they are subjected to it and others are not, but they do it.

I always pray another person will help us out when they see us picking up half eaten nachos, water bottles and crap. Guess what? It has never happened. We live in a cess pool and people are just used to it.

The guy that said LSU football is an adult venue. Either it is or it isn't.

I'm really over it at this point. It's like republicans and democrats. Either you like neck or you don't and you will never see the other side's point of view.

But to the point of the OP... If you think your children aren't going to hear things a million times worse, you better home school them and never get them a phone.

That's awesome! I've picked up around where I've parked but not at every place I see. It really is disgusting considering trash cans are provided for people.

I bet they learn a good lesson by doing that. You can use the STTDB as a lesson just the same way.

I don't think that was his point, but that makes some sense. Bringing them to a bar really isn't the best comparison because kids aren't allowed in a bar.

I'm curious how you handle when f bombs are dropped around you in the stadium. When I was younger going with my dad in the south endzone f bombs were dropped left and right. It was especially bad when there was a bad call by a ref or if people thought it was a bad play call in a tight game.

Easy, people say bad things when they are emotional, Your dad does too .

Shouting STTDB is a level of choreography and vulgarity that is not comparable, and any comparison to an appropriately place curse word is not applicable.

SUCK MY DICK is a level of profanity and vulgarity that isn't defensible.
