Honest question- seems like we would want Hunter Biden called to the stand right?

I see lots of opposition to it on here, why is that?

I like my dog and pony shows to end as quickly as possible.

The House had unlimited time to put together their case.

It is not the Senate's job to do their homework.

We dont need more witnesses for this. However, the Hunter Biden and his father should have its own investigation to get to the bottom of it. If there is a bottom lol

Gotta weigh witnesses and a lengthy process against the campaigning needs of Republican Senators.

That's all this is.

First - it's a matter of process. It is improper for the Senate to call any witnesses. Their function as the trier of the impeachment is to make a decision based on the record as it comes from the House. Period.

This is the equivalent of the prosecution and defense resting in a criminal case, but then certain jurors demanding that new witnesses be called.

Second - the impeachment trial (and the impeachment itself) is nothing but a political hit job and distraction. The Senate cannot conduct business while the trial is going on.

It needs to end. Now.

The problem lies in principle. Adam Schiff said on the floor of the house that the facts were clear and the evidence was substantial that Trump should be impeached for the Articles proposed. They had an opportunity to call any witness they wanted. They did not.

Now, with the trial going on in the Senate, the impeachment managers are clamoring to have the Senate do the job they weren't able to in the house. They have no power in the Senate. They can respectfully frick themselves in the ears until their tiny liberal brains rattle.

There will be time enough to call witnesses into the investigations into Joe Biden's entire family. His son, his daughter-in-law, his brother. All of them have been enriched by situations generated as Joe was vice president.

Because it will drag this show trial out into the summer.

The republicans are not going to call any of the witnesses that really matter. They aren’t going to call the Bidens or Schiff or Chiaramelli.

This isn’t moving the needle one way or the other. This is a political show trial, nothing more. Both sides are dug in. No voter is changing his or her mind over this right now.

End it.

simple answer? It prolongs and in a way, legitimizes this political farce.

Because if witnesses come out, Trump will be exposed.

You can't have that.

Because it's the duty of the House to call witnesses. This is yet another tactic by the Dems, and it's time to fight back against their swing low attacks

It's a fishing expedition. How much longer and further afield is the fishing expedition going to go?

This work was supposed to be done in the House. The House failed to do it, so Nancy wanted to hold the articles. Now that the articles are in the hands of the Senate, the idiots want the Senate to do the job that the House failed to do. Enough.

Muh Russians: also a fishing expedition that went for years and tens of millions of dollars and was a giant waste of time, money, effort, and attention. Enough.

Trump wants witnesses otherwise his legal counsel would have never repeatedly said yesterday "the Senate hadn't heard from a single witness who had "direct contact" with the president.

Trump was full vindication which is something a few Republicans do not want to happen. I think they did an end around so the hearing looks far and balanced while torpedoing Biden, Schiff, and others.

This thing is built on a false premise.

Anything beyond outright dismissal is buying into the premise that this is a legitimate impeachment to begin with.
