Hey fools , teams all over this country slung the ball just like we did this past year but got a different result ! WE don't have burrow this coming year so we will use our talent to the best advantage so drop the notion that we had a magical offensive scheme that will work every year !

I looked at his Youngstown State salary and it was like $325k/year.

Are you serious? Aranda was paid $2.5/year and he didn't have anywhere close to Pelini credentials.

Football dinosaur, not age dinosaur. This is not good. Who else was hiring him? Who else would throw that kind of money at him? Why not bring in an up-and-comer? Just a puzzling hire.

I've seen this a few times about who else was hiring him, who else was paying him. Who else was hiring Coach O? Who else was willing to pay O any money? I'm willing to give Coach O and the Admin the benefit of the doubt on stuff like this. I'm not so worried about who else wanted Pelini. I do understand that thought in the context of how much we paid him but again, I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt.

I also loved watching Pelini coached D's here at LSU.

You're right. He was at Youngstown St. playing checkers

Dude, just say you think the hire sucks and you hate it. Don't sit here and shoot off at the mouth, because every response that you put out you look dumber and dumber.

Similar philosophy to Venables
They worked together on OU staff
I like it!

Just hope Pelini and O don't end up butting heads. Pelini is a hot head and O doesn't seem like he takes crap from anyone.

So whats the concern ? O will just process him like Canada

Bo Pelini was LSU's DC from 2005-07.

Here's how his defenses ranked in the NCAA those three years in yards per game allowed.

2005: No. 3 (266.8)
2006: No. 3 (242.8)
2007: No. 3 (288.8)

The Tigers were No. 3, No. 4 and No. 17 in points allowed.

Average: 12.6, 14.2 + 19.9.

This is all great, but the offenses in the SEC are on a substantially different level than they were 13 years ago.

The people bitchin about Pelini’s hire probably aren’t old enough to understand how badass his Defenses were the last time he was here.

They’ll learn soon enough.

You don't really know that, though.

His problems at Nebraska weren't really centered around his team's inability to adapt to current schemes.

Finally, we get rid of Arandas ‘selective blitz’ mentality and go back to an attacking LSU defense.

I think Coach O had his sights set on Bo as soon as Aranda left. Coach O got who he wanted. Now we will have a vicious attacking defense to go with our now high powered offense.

I have total faith in Coach O, and I won't be a bit surprised to see us in the playoffs next season. We ridin baws, straight to the top!

He said he wasn't coming 6 days ago

FARGO — The sports director for a Youngstown, Ohio, television station says an online report that Youngstown State head football coach Bo Pelini is a strong candidate to become the defensive coordinator at LSU is not true.

Dana Balash of WFMJ-TV said Pelini responded to his text message asking about the subject with one word: "No."

Why would you bring in a unproven guy as a coordinator when you can bring in a established, proven coordinator like Pelini. Great hire and he's gonna do a great job.
