It's Hot Chicken Week in Nashville and there's lots of great places offering up their take on the hot dish. I remember my first time eating Hot Chicken from a little hole-in-the-wall named Prince's and underestimating the heat level. It went on to be the hottest meal I've ever eaten

It got me thinking - what's the hottest/spiciest actual meal you've ever eaten? I'm not talking about eating a ghost pepper whole or drinking battery acid in the form of hot sauce. Looking for stories about legit HOT meals whether you were expecting it or not, and how good it was.

I can definitely say that while Hot Chicken ripped me to shreds, I can't stop from coming back.

Some bonus pics of Hot Chicken Week offerings:

I've a couple of Thai dishes that damn near ruined me.

Also, had the Hot Bastard Burger at Rodeo Goat in FW back when they used habaneros instead of fresnos that had me sweating for a good half hour.

But, damn if I don't love hot food.

The first time I had Indian food was in the 80s in England, I ordered Chicken Vindaloo because I had heard of it. They asked me if I wanted it British spicy or Indian spicy, of course I said Indian spicy. Holy shite that was the hottest thing I've ever eaten.

I had the second hottest at Hattie B’s and it lit me up. I don’t know how people eat the hottest. I enjoy hot foods too.

I’ve had Thai that was also very hot, and I like my crawfish hot, too.

I had the hottest they had at their food truck in sobro. It wasn't really that hot. I didn't like it because it was powdery rather than saucy.

As far as hottest thing I've ever eaten, the whole raw ghost pepper still takes the cake. Lasted almost 8 minutes before I had to raid the kitchen for dairy products.

I always order my Indian food as Indian spicy. I'm a spice junky. I've got like 30 bottles of hot sauce in my fridge and close to 10 are habanero or hotter.

The Ocmulgee Brewpub in Macon, GA has a hot chicken sandwich that is the hottest meal that can be had. And I spent months in Thailand back in the 90s. Like other posters mentioned, we also light up our crawfish boil so much that common folk can't eat them in any quantity...a pretty good strategy.

Tom Yum soup at Lotus of Siam in Las Vegas. I got spice level 7 (1-10 scale). They warned me how hot it would be, but I'm thinking, "Eh, I'm from south Louisiana, I love hot food." And my wife kept telling me to get a lower spice level. So it comes out and I'm eating it - holy shite, it was like pouring molten lava into my mouth and down my throat. My entire body was burning from the inside out. I'm pouring down sweat, my face is beet red, but I refuse to admit to my wife that it was too hot for me, so I kept eating it and telling her I was fine and that it wasn't too spicy. IT WAS WAY TOO frickING SPICY!!!!
