What you going to throw at em? I’m looking at possibly going to the one in NOLA East, but not sure if it’s worth dying for.

I take my daughter to fish Lake Junior next to Chickamauga Dam when they stock it.

Fish Hiwassee and some of the other waters up that way that stock. I guess some of the streams count as stocked in the Smokies because of them reintroducing brookies up there. Elk river stocks too.

There is a huge difference taste wise between stockers and fish that are either wild or have been in a river for a year or so.

Stockers should be filleted, and then fried very hard to soften pin bones. Actually they should be thrown back but a flavorful breading can make them OK to eat.

Ones that have been wild long enough to change the flesh from white to orange/red are actually enjoyable to eat.

When I was a kid Pecan Land mall opened in Monroe and as a promotion deal they had a big tank in there filled with Rainbow trout. You’d pay a little money and your kid would have a certain amount of time to try to catch one. Well the trout wouldn’t bite those little marshmallows for shite. And I watched as kid after kid lost their allotment of time without catching anything. Being a little redneck version of Huck Fin I knew what I was going to do when my time came. And when it did I pulled my little marshmallows off the hook and snagged one right thru the eyeball. Kids were amazed but the people who were running it were pissed. They promptly put up a no snagging sign. Good times

For Rainbow trout use whole kernel corn. I can of DelMonte last you a while. The farm raised trout are fed cornmeal. So they love the taste of corn. If you ever go fishing for them in another state better check the regulations. It's legal in Arkansas, but don't get caught with it around the Rocky Mtn states. Wyoming don't play that game for sure. lol

4/10.... Like someone else mentioned, it really makes you appreciate our native fish. They were kinda chewy and earthy tasting... almost like dirt.

Monday, I saw a guy chumming them up with corn and then cast netting them. he had a about a dozen in his bucket.

When he went to throw more "chum" out on the other side of the pond, I dumped his bucket of fish back in the pond...

Because they are a lot of fun to catch on ultralight tackle. Also, I have found that the fresher they are, the better they taste. All of the ones I caught were killed immediately, iced down and cleaned the minute I got home. Most had not stiffened up yet. They were cooked or smoked that day as well. I have found that the quality of the meat can degrade with a quickness. Just like speckled trout can. The best way we found was to butterfly filet them and make sure you get the little pin bones out as well. Like I said earlier, everyone really enjoyed the smoked trout dip for the Natty party. Your mileage may vary.

1/16 and 1/8 ounce Panther Martin spinners are trout killers, especially the holographic patterns Use a small snap swivel in still water to avoid line twist.

Closest to me seems to be Vidalia.

I may not have enough bullets to feel safe fishing off a bucket over there. Be like throwing a baby into the wolves. Do they bite gizzards?
