Pink marshmallows

One year some dude was fishing for them at the Lamar Dixon pond and caught like a 10 pound bass on a large pink mallow

Do people keep them to eat?

It obviously needs more culture.

Yeah, you can keep 4 I think. No size limit.

I’ve read that canned corn and powerbait is really good. Gonna go make a pass later on.

I live not far from #6 on the map, took the kids and fished it 2 years ago when it was first stocked. Used Berkley crappie bites in pink, and canned corn kernels. We caught 6 if I recall in about 2 hours, biggest was about 13" smallest kept was about 7". Took them home cleaned them and I fried 2, Baked 2 and gave 2 to the neighbor that night. Not a fan of the of it at all. No real flavor compared to our native fishes, Bland no real flavor profile. Id have to be hungry to purposely catch them again but was a fun experience.

I went to the BREC pond off Burbank. They were masters of pulling bait off the hook without getting caught. Fished for about an hour or two before sun down and only hooked one to bring home.

Every pond they put them in seems to have something in common but I can't put my finger on it

yeah. Fished a pond in Central last year in freezing temps with my lady. Had corn and berkly power baits on ultralight rods with 4# test line. Would not touch the power baits in pink color. hey loved the corn. We kept our limit and I brought them home to cook. Will never cook them again Terrible taste, very mushy meat and bones everywhere in the meat. Beautiful fish tho.

We have caught a few in the BREC ponds. Fun to catch on ultralight tackle. We butterfly filleted a few and pan fried them. They were not bad. We also smoked some and made a trout dip for the Natty and a smoked trout chowder. Both were big hits.

I’ve caught them at Fabacher field. When did they stock them this year? I fished the pond on Saturday and didn’t see any signs of them. The bass bite disappears when they put those trout in. I’ve never taken them home. Last year I gave them away to some kids that were fishing for them.

I caught them on a little spinner like this.

I second the Mepps. I use a rooster tail. Caught one at Burbank and missed two others. Also, caught a couple of bass.

This was surprising to me. I've had steelhead before and loved it. Rainbow trout are just steelheads that are not anadromous. I guess the farm raised part was probably to blame.

Went Sunday in the rain and kids caught a couple on corn. I threw them back. Rainbow trout is not very good eating to me unless in Arkansas sitting on a river bank on an open fire with butter and lemon. Would never keep any to bring home to cook

Yup. Wild caught are great. Farm raised, not so much.
