Johnson isn’t going to run the offense. There’s no way.

Did they change the rules and analysts can interact with players now?

I read a few weeks ago that Burrow credited Munoz with his development, but I remember a few years ago when McMahon and Sullivan were analysts a lot was made about them having to coach the coaches and not the actual players.

I don't know the specific rules, but Munoz apparently had a huge influence on Burrow. Maybe someone else can chime in.

In my mind, it was the film room study kind of stuff...not on the field. Ensminger and Brady took over on the field.

After the year they had, why the hell would they bring in an outside OC who runs a totally different system?

Hiring CJ to carry on the same duties that Brady did would make it seem as if they don't really know why Brady worked out so well, and they haven't properly reverse-engineered this path to success.

Maybe they should remember that they were blown away with Brady's schematic acumen, not necessarily because he worked with the Saints. We're supposed to believe that CJ has that same potential as Brady despite being 58 and having never proven it at any time?

If you’re bringing him in to coach receivers, it’s a great hire. To help run the offense?? No

This would be very meh

You are making a fair point. But, if Joe Brady resembles the legend of Joe Brady, those guys don't grow on trees. You can't just go find another one. So, the plan may change a little bit. They may try to leverage the scheme they have developed with Brady using good position coaches and relying on existing strategists (Ensminger and Munoz).

Re: Muñoz tutoring Joe Burrow. I think off-field staff actually are allowed to "supervise"voluntary off-season workouts & drills but on-field staff are not allowed to do that.

Ensminger will have to run it. Johnson will give some input considering he coaches under the GOAT of the system Payton.

E called most of the plays, so it’s not like he doesn’t know much of what Brady added. To work as seeminglessly as they did, the guy knows what he’s doing.

Ideally we find a way to get both Johnson and Munoz on the coaching staff.

No. I am saying that people are overblowing brady's responsibilities while working with the saints and undervaluing what other assistants could contribute.

Every one of our assistants probably does similar things. Not trying to say that Brady was clueless coming here. Just that he didnt have some secret knowledge or skills that will be impossible to replicate.

Strength coaches can, not analysts

And it worked...

And when we had Sullivan it didn’t work.

So maybe we need someone there for this offense to work?

If nothing else this is a great move to keep LSU WRs elite. That's something so underrated this past season that Brady brought. The difference in our WRs were night and day. They never dropped the damn ball in traffic. CJ is a great WR coach. Can PGC's recruit too? He's a good recruiter or use to be. Curious to see his impact in the passing game offense.

Brady basically changed the entire offensive philosophy that Sullivan and E came up with.

From how we dealt with pressure to how we attached defenses and exploited matchups.

A lot of what we did that worked was the opposite of what E and Sullivan did the year before.

Realistically, E isn’t an idiot and maybe he can keep the train moving, but I an At least a little concerned with his ability to adapt the offense to different personnel.

Ok, there's a great option right there. It's beyond perfect.

I hadn't even thought about CJ but that would be an absolutely otherworldly hire. Way, way beyond a grand slam hire.

You have to at least try don't you?

The dude went from position coach at W&M to NFL coordinator in 7 years. There's a reason why he had more and more responsibility heaped onto his shoulders in such a short period of time. The guy knows what he's doing and he would've been great no matter who he was working for. I think the Saints is the wrong common denominator to identify here. Young, innovative, and someone rising quickly is what you want to find.

There's other young coaches across the country that are on upwards career trajectories like Brady. You have to actually go and look for them, they don't all work for the Saints.

I'm probably ageist to an extent but I don't know why you wouldn't go young and innovative when it's worked so well.

So many people keep saying CJ would be a great hire because he understands the Saints offense. You know, an average college student can understand physics. Physicists know physics even better, but none of them know as much as Einstein, Feinman or Bohr. There are levels to this and you can't just assume everyone has the same depth of understanding because they study the same thing.
