The biggest Philosophy wise is how we deal with pass rush.

And Munoz was the blitz pick up staffer. Which means he was a big part of that.

That’s a good point.

And I think he was a new addition too.

My point is, Ensminger didn’t do these things in 2018. He either didn’t know how or didn’t think that was how you should deal with the blitz or pass rush.

And for the record we were marginally better in Sacks Allowed Per Game. We just have Joe a lot more to work with when he was being pressured so when they didn’t bring him down he could get the ball out.

What does Curtis Johnson add to this team? I’m not a fan if this happens. His recruiting is overrated and his coaching/coordinating record is less than stellar.

Lol I guess You didn’t watch 2018.

If you can’t see the glaring differences, you don’t belong in the conversation.

there's no arguing with the ensminger crowd. He's an offensive genius and that's that

Honestly i don’t think he’s an idiot

He’s just old, and had no experience in modern offenses and we surrounded him with other older guys with no experience in modern offenses.

There is a part of me that thinks we’ll definitely be better off than 2018, because I doubt E will revert back now that he’s been shown what to do.

It’s continuing to adapt the scheme and gameplan to changing personal and defenses that concerns me.

Huh? Wasn't he apart of the saints Superbowl run and the Miami NC? Why do you say it's less than stellar.

quote:

With Johnson on staff, the Saints have produced a 1,000-yard wide receiver in seven of his eight seasons on the New Orleans sideline, easily the most impressive results in franchise history. During that tenure, he has been a part of six playoff teams, five division titles and one Super Bowl championship.

I don't know much about his recruiting but saying he isn't a good coach seems way off base

Saints prob had more drops in 16 games than LSU had in just the regular season.

1. You are wrong in your assertion that Munoz was a new hire, he just completed his second year on the staff.

2. You are wrong in your assertion that the film study by the QBs did not take place in 2018. And yes Coach Munoz did in fact work with the QBs on the same identification of defense, pressure and blitzing that he did this year.

The main difference between 2018 and 2019 was schematic. By moving more defensive players out of the box, you lessen the keys to read for identifying defense, pressure and blitzing.

ETA: Hence my response to you: wrong and wrong.

So was the guy that filled the Gatorade coolers. I'm not giving him credit for that team and according to this thread he is up for a job with more responsibilities than just WR coach.

He had terrible offenses at Tulane. We would be going from a young, hungry film room savant to an old retread that has never called a successful offense.

If we hired him in Mickey's place I'd be fine with that I guess, despite his recruiting prowess being overrated. Not to replace Joe Brady though.

Yeah wrong and wrong
Munoz was at lsu last year too.
They didn't have the same personnel, at the same level they are now.
Receivers were dropping passes.
O line wasn't blocking
Yeah the system was different but so were the players. The players had another year and were trained the right way
Everyone is just skating over this

Cj is probably just going to be the wr coach with munoz helping out

I just looked at Munoz’ bio, so if I’m wrong so be it.

If he was analyzing it in 2018

It did not translate to the field at all.

So again, Brady made changes that transit ally improved the offense.

End of story.

I wonder if the inability to start the same offensive line two games in a row in 2018 until late in the season had something to with the line having troubles picking up pressure and blitzes effectively?

I think you said that well.
It's like e didn't know how to come up with it himself because he's never been in those offenses
But he was the one who wanted Brady.
Once he sees it he knows offense.
Not saying he doesn't need help because he does but people ahot on him like he is an idiot

Anyone calling him an idiot is very dense and not worthy of a discussion.

He’s not innovative, he’s not getting any younger, he has a past life (history) as OC and it’s not a good one. Love E but I prefer we hire a full time young innovative mind that has concepts that can continuously evolve in the spread.

So do we have any indicators on whether Munoz is going to stay or not? Considering Oregon had him as a top 2 choice for OC between him and Moorehead (Joe got the job)he seems destined to leave unless he is at least promoted up in some capacity at LSU.
