Let me get this straight: Jessica Mendoza is "sad" for baseball that ... a player spoke to reporters about a really big problem within the sport, which was greatly shifting the playing field and damaging careers? That's what she is "sad" about?

I love the Mets and selfishly hope Carlos Beltran isn’t fired… but blaming the whistleblower for uncovering a horrifying and widespread cheating scandal is CRAZY. Just completely appalling.

Probably the first time she's said this.

I can understand it, it was pretty shitty of him. If he is so upset about how the Stros cheated, he should return his WS ring right?

Off topic, is Mendoza pregnant or is she getting a little chunky?

Yeah I heard that on Golic and Wingo...the other athletes in the room all took her side, Wingo took the other side. I'd imagine most athletes would take her side

Fiers is a left wing bitch I hate him

Would she feel different if she was a fringe pitcher in the major league looking to stay in the big show but gets shelled by the Astros because they know what pitch he’s throwing?

Why does anyone care what this broad has to say about baseball?

I love the sounds of a baseball game. Her voice throws the whole thing off on SNB. It’s just audibly dissonant to me.
It’s like if some producer thought it would be slick to add a banjo track in Cult of Personality.

I’m with her on this - Fiers comes off looking like a weasel.
Still think opponents should have been smart enough to realize signs were figured out and change things up.

So is defending a guy that sat back and got a ring while the cheating was going on, then let his new teams know about it to their benefit, THEN finally, 2 years later, opened his mouth.
Chickenshit if you ask me. I'm assuming his ring sits in a box in the attic if he's so sickened by what happened in 2017.

A lot of people (especially of the younger generations) talk about how stupid and archaic baseball's "unwritten rules" are. They have certainly played their role in keeping the game pure. Ron Darling was talking about the sign stealing situation on MLB Network the other day and said (paraphrasing):
It's always gone on in one form or another. When I played it was very common for a runner at second to try to relay signs or location to the guy at the plate. When I realized what was going on, I just stepped off and told the runner that if it continued, he was going to get his teammate hurt.
The players have always talked about policing themselves, and the game has always worked fine. Now, things like this "scandal" are becoming commonplace.

the saddest part is how stupid everyone is about what she is saying. 99% of all comments completely miss her point. Dang people are so stupid.

Maybe the truth was hard to swallow and not exactly asking for the whistleblower to be burned at the stake.
Posted on 1/16/20 at 1:54 pm to Chad504boy
My only issue with this whole mess is how deep is the MLB willing to go to in their investigation? If they stop at the Astros and those formally affiliated with the team; then this is a PR sham. If they really investigate all reports of similar cheating with other team and do their due diligence to rectify the sport and fans, I would become more of a fan of the sport (not a big baseball fan in general) because the NFL is shite at really trying to clean up cheating in their league.

She’s not wrong. I haven’t seen Fiers give back his ring or World Series money. If he wants to play morality police, then give back the spoils of “illegal triumph.”
Posted on 1/16/20 at 3:54 pm to Chad504boy
I mean I haven't checked, but we all agree Houston should lose claim to the World Series title they clearly did not earn being shitty cheaters.
Right?
Right?
