60 years ago jack daniels green neat, with "old" coca cola chaser.
Rarely, scotch and soda.
They stopped making green label. Frat boys only ordered black.
Green was aged 2 years less.
I liked it.

I don't drink much whiskey cept during winter months and I prefer it neat or on the rocks and let the ice melt just a little before i start sipping

Straight up on the rocks. I use freezable stone Cubes so it doesn't water down.

Glass full of rocks, 3/4 glass of whiskey, splash of coke and a splash of water. My glasses hold about 1/4 of a bottle. Doing one now.
