It's a completely 1:1 comparison but it's technically a strawman

Copyright infringement is not the same as stealing something. Words have meaning, and it helps to avoid confusion if we all use them in the proper context.

Theft involves depriving another of something. Copyright infringement does not.

Of course it is

The entire basis for recovery for infringement of IP is the theft of goodwill and creation of confusion for consumers

That's for distributors of copyrighted content. And, again, "theft" is not the word here. You seem to know a lot of words. Choose another one.

Not identical, because part of the rationale hinges on whether someone was actually deprived of property.

haven't tried that yet; just read that another poster in this thread said that hulu would do it.

So what are you paying for? Because ESPN+ is the only pay version of the app and they don't show those games. If you were watching through your TV provider login, why didn't you just watch on your regular TV service? I'm genuinely confused

It's a super special type of theft where no one is deprived of property, and the "stolen" item cannot be returned. We should invent a new term for it, actually.

My wife's family ESPN login through their cable. I will never subscribe to cable TV again as long as I live.

Don't give me shite shite about that either because it's perfectly legal for them to share their login with their daughter.

I won't give you shite about it, haha, I do the same thing. But it does eliminate your ability to bitch about the service since you are stealing it.
