Die Another Day is the Bond franchise’s Batman and Robin.

Exactly. Sticking with that comparison The World Is Not Enough is Bond’s Batman Forever. Favorably received at the time but when looking back through the prism of Die Another Day/Batman & Robin, it doesn’t hold up.

Die Another Day is complete garbage. They tried so hard to jam every gimmick in there. Brosnan’s Bond basically became a superhero. The good thing about Bond movies are they adapt in order to stay relevant. The bad thing is they usually end up going over the top after a few movies and it takes a new Bond to bring it back to earth.

I don't know about worst Bond movie, but it definitely has the worst song. That techno-autotune thing is just lazy.

Thank you. I came here to roast that God awful song. So horrible. Sam Smith's is pretty bad too.

The most laughable part of this movie is when Halle Barry kills the woman villan with her "Read this" punchline. I laugh out loud every single time.

I would still rank "Another Way to Die" from Quantum of Solace below Madonna's stinker of a title song. I really loved the way the violin was used in that song. "Another Way to Die" had no redeeming qualities at all.

Pierce brosnan was the worst. His only good bond film was Goldeneye and thats mostly because 006 had a major part.

006 was on the screen for like 3 scenes...the very first one, in the graveyard before the helicopter blows up (i think) and at the very end when they are fighting on the Goldeneye satellite. Someone correct me if im wrong

IMO Brosnan was the third best but I kinda liked him.

You didn't get invested in the plot where James Bond risks life and limb to uncover a global underworld intelligence conspiracy to...gouge the people of Bolivia on how much they pay for their water bills?

Jesus Christ, you all don’t get QoS. The fact that a global conglomerate could get control of an entire country’s water supply is f-ing chilling. Quantum was using Bolivia as a testing ground to see how they could influence world leaders elsewhere to do the same. They were installing puppet leaders to give them control over vast natural resources.

QoS also has one of the best Bond girls. Camille’s story syncs with Bond’s quest for revenge. She quietly and skillfully matches him without ever sleeping with him. That final showdown in the burning hotel is gangbusters and way better than Skyfall’s Home Alone ending. (Don’t get me started on how f-ing plagiarized Skyfall is. It steals from Nolan so obviously it pisses me off. I refuse to watch it again.)

The story in QoS is there and it’s pretty damned good. I know I’m in the minority on QoS, but watch Casino Royale and then watch QoS immediately after. Totally changes the way you’ll view QoS.

As for the original post, watch GoldenEye for a great Bond movie and Tomorrow Never Dies for Michelle Yeoh alone. Die Another Day is just ridiculous but it’s not as bad as The World Is Not Enough.

Let me explain it this way . . .

I left the theatre feeling the same way I did after leaving the theatre for Star Trek: The Final Frontier (yeah, I’m that old).

Both of these films stick out for how much they let me down, based on previous efforts.

The cast of Star Trek got to make up for it with The Undiscovered Country. Brosnan never got another chance.

Edit: And . . . Tomorrow Never Dies is a very underrated (and a lot of fun) Brosnan movie. It has it all without being too hokey.

It was a trash film that had an excellent opening. Then it went off the rails with terrible Madonna with a smoking hot Halle Barry in a tiny bikini barely helping us forget it.

Crazy to think Rosamund Pike was in that movie. The acting talent was excellent. The story was filth.

Endless entertainment with that.

With all N64 Bond games in fact.

I loved being the a-hole playing as OddJob. Always pisses your friends off.

It's in the bottom tier. Not sure if it's the worst but it's definitely in the conversation. It absolutely had the worst song in Bond history. That Madonna robot song was fricking awful.

Jonathan Pryce was a great villain in Tomorrow Never Dies.

I agree - I like the Bond villains who think on a global scale. Oh, and his henchmen (Dr. Kaufman and Stamper) where equally good.

Is that the one where they could turn a short Vietnamese man into a tall very very British man; yet somehow couldn't remove the diamonds from that one guy's face?

Yeah, I remember that

The tidal wave surfing scene and the plane flying into the skybeam might be two of the worst CGI action scenes ever.

The Brosnan movies after Goldeneye are what led to the Craig films rebooting the franchise.
