26” 1:8 twist with an 8” suppressor. Will be used for whitetail and mule deer from 0-300 yard with possibility of >500 yards. Also will be used for elk if my trip next year ends up happening. I’m looking at the 178gr ELD-X but open to suggestions.

Been shooting Barnes 150s for the last couple years. Never had a deer take a step after the shot. Switched to hornady AW due to availability on the day I sighted in, going back to Barnes next season.

Overcompensating for your small boat?

Don’t have a small boat any more

You sure this is right?
Use the light stuff for whitetail. Get some heavy stuff for elk.
Id get some 190, 200, 215 and try them all if you can stand it.

I am a big fan of the 180 gr nosler Partition in my .300 Weatherby, not much experiance with the Win Mag but they are a death ray in my gun.
I used to hunt a lot of open bean fields but really aint mad at the deer so much any more.

I would shoot 200 gr partitons at everything if I had that caliber.

Nosler accubonds. 150 for white tail. 180 for elk

I'd use a controlled expansion bullet. IMHO the Nosler Partition is still the best controlled expansion bullet. For WT and MD, 180 or 200 gr Nosler Partitions. I'd go 200 gr NPT for elk. Wh
Not flaming, just curious. What's a full power 300 WM load like when shot from a suppressed barrel? Why are you shooting it w/ a suppressor?

It definitely makes more bearable to shoot. I’m building a 300 out right now that I’ll run my can on it.

Yep.
Thanks for all the recs. Gonna try out the 180 and 200 Partitions and see which groups best.

I think if your at all interested in some of the longer range stuff. Which I guess you should be considering you said possibly 500.
Look at the nosier accubond in those gr. They might even have a 190 long range accubond.
The accubond was designed to have the same terminal performance as the partition but it has a much better BC

Lots of discussion on Longe Range Hunting forum about Berger Hybrid 215’s. Lots of harvest data also. Search page Long Range Hunting

26” 1:8 twist with an 8” suppressor.
I’d go 180 SST, I’m queer for SSTs.

I use 180 gr. Nosler ballistic tips in mine. Very accurate.

My 300 WBY likes both the Nosler Partition and the Ballistic Tip in 180 grain.
Consider sighting in 3” high at 100 for your Western hunts.
