yes it does, but my gas mileage would slip to 10-12 mpg anytime I hooked up a trailer.

I just bought a new 2019 Lariat with the 3.5 EcoBoost. Now have about 3500 miles on it. I researched all of the Ford engines and decided the 3.5 would fit all of my needs. Even though I don't tow a lot, it has a 13,000 lb towing capacity. I'm getting 23.5 mpg on the highway and close to 20 in town. I love the torque when in high traffic areas. Good luck with you decision.

Towing with the V8 will also give you about 9-12 MPG....

I would not get an eco boost and especially not the small one. I’ve had to replace a turbo in my wife’s Explorer at a cost of $2,500. It’s not a great engine and you can hear it struggling.

I’ve got a 2019 F150 and opted for the 5.0 v8. I get about 18mpg average. I’d consider a diesel next but a 4 cylinder turbo is not something I’d ever consider.

Just get the kid the truck.

The comments here won’t help you.

The kid will love the fact that he has a truck. It isn’t something he is gonna have for 10 years anyways

2015 XLT Sport with a 2.7 EcoBoost.

I've got a 2015 Lariat with the 2.7

Currently have about 120,000 miles on it.

I haven't had the first problem with the 2.7 and I tow a 24' boat.

I have never thought it felt underpowered.

Its a solid setup imo.

2.7 ecoboost is fine for hauling groceries, garbage and girls.

WHERE DO YOU IDIOTS COME FROM?

In full-out drag racing with empty beds, the little EcoBoost performed very close to the V-8s in both zero-to-60-mph and quarter-mile times. However, the benefits of the twin-turbos were really seen when it was running at wide-open throttle with a full payload of 1,240 pounds — it handily beat the Ram, Ford and Toyota V-8s.

That’s fine and dandy, but if you think only 5% of truck owners actually need a truck, an even smaller percentage is drag racing them.

His point didn't have much to do with drag racing.

Do not know what to tell you if that is what you gathered from those times posted. It shows towing capacity.

Well I dunno where you got that fancy chart from, but no self-respecting American man should be driving a truck without a v8. That's what my pappy always said and he's the smartest man I know. Leave all that turbo shite for the rice-burners.

To be fair, is that towing something at about 9000 lbs weight? I mean I could tow a small boat and get probably 17 MPG. The heavier the load, the worse the MPG.

I have a 2019 F150 w/5.0 V-8 - on the interstate at 70-75 mph I get 23 MPG and around town I get 18-19 mpg. Why get a turbo?

I had the exact same truck and highly recommend it. Im in the repair business if that holds any weight with you. If not that truck Id recommend a Tundra.

Because the 2.7 is lighter and easier on the front end and tires.
