Wow. I’ve honestly never seen a Cane’s close a location. This has to be the first closure of a Cane’s in the Baton Rouge area, right?

Not to mention, they’ve been expanding into several states the past decade or so.

The spot never seemed ideal to me. I never went and I frequent corporate regularly for lunch. But it is shocking to see a Canes close.

Location is awkward to enter and exit. That may have contributed.

I am told they lease that location—was something else before? Owner wanted 60% rent hike on new contract.

9 times out of 10 this is the reason. It doesn't take much of a push to want to get away from the neighborhood close by

Absolute PITA to get in and out of. It’s on the wrong side of the street on that drag of corporate.

Probably had enough dealing with the vagrants that hang around in that area. I'm sure they need 24 hr security. Wouldn't surprise me to see a new store open up down the road.

There used to be a Cane's on Airline and Pecue in an old Fast Track. Closed around 2003/2004 from memory. Became Subway. Now is a place called Fit Blendz.

I think it likely closed because Cane's wanted to have more dining space than that location allowed.

Maybe so, but the Cane's on Drusilla is a old Fast Track and it is still open.

I passed there about fifteen minutes ago and it's all taped off with the doors open and what looked like some kind of construction/demo going on.

That building might not be empty long.

Closed because of a lease disagreement

Cane’s wanted the landlord to reduce the price. The landlord didn’t. Simple as that. Cane’s will find a new spot close by that’s cheaper, I’m sure.

Completely forgot about that one. Good point. Guess it just didn't work for them.

Oddly enough they just announced they are opening one where I live up in South Bend. I'm going to be in heaven.
