This has got to be the most overrated movie series of all time.
It is. Other than New Hope and Empire, every movie in the saga is pretty weak.
But I still love them because they were such an integral part of my childhood. When I think of magical movie theater experiences, the excitement and anticipation as I walked in to see Empire and ROTJ are right near the top.

I was 9 when the original came out.
The lived-in-world that is so familiar but yet concurrently other-worldly makes it remain fantastic eye candy for me to this day.
The locations, ships, costumes, weapons, creatures, etc...conjured up by Lucas and McQuarrie & Co. will always grab my attention, even if the story/dialogue/acting/casting is disappointing/horrid.

TLJ is poop. literally poop. it tried to rewrite everything the past 9 movies and handful of series built. Luke tried to kill his nephew because of a bad dream? GTFO. He was so good, he couldnt even kill his dad that murdered children.

You could ask the same about the MCU. People love those films, which to me are no better than the star wars films.

It isn't even the worst Star Wars movie. AotC will always own that.

The Clone Wars animated series and Rebels are legit awesome.
OK. That's it. I'm gonna have to break down and watch these.

Definitely watch The Clone Wars first. Not just for chronology, but because you'll be confused when some characters are introduced in Rebels later if you don't.

Yes both are great. Just remember Rebels gets great in season 2. Season one is a little silly at times but still good stuff in it. Season three and four are just awesome.

True. I think Season 1 was geared a bit more towards kids (nothing wrong with that), but then the writers wanted to start telling some deeper stories. I will say the main character gets way more likable in the third season.

It can't possibly be overrated. It is quite literally a billion dollar franchise ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Same for many things. Rolling stones, Ozzy Osborne, Christy Brinkley, Cindy Crawford
A couple good albums/years, 50 year careers.

Do it, you won't be disappointed. They do the prequels so much benefit.
By the time you finish Clone Wars, you have a much greater appreciation for the frustrations Anakin had with the Jedi Council in RotS.
Those two series are probably the best bit of star wars media ever created outside of ESB.

It’s the world/galaxy George Lucas created. The stories are simple good vs evil coming of age but set in this amazing world. The OT gave us the most iconic villain in movie history. The dialogue could be cheesy, some characters lame and some story lines just silly. But those bad aspects could not destroy that world/galaxy from our imagination.
And that world/galaxy is what Rian Johnson destroyed and why he will always be reviled by Star Wars fans. More than shitting on Luke’s legacy, or the legacy of George Lucas, he changed the rules of the galaxy, tried to create his own world with a Star Wars label.

Millennials grew up with startwars, WTF are you talking about?
If I have to explain it to you, then it's ruined.
I will anyway though. The new interwebz fad is the "hey boomer" line thrown at baby boomers. It's the millennialz wayz of throwing shade at old folk for being out of touch. OP dropped a boomer line (even though GenX is the #1 Star Wars audience), so I said "hey millennial" to him.
With that said, the majority of millenials grew up with prequels, so not really Star Wars
