Every boy in the late 70s and early 80s had a crap load of Star Wars stuff growing up. I don't know if a generation growing up has had a pop culture reference that compares.

Everyone just wants the original Han Solo back. Everything else about the franchise blows.

, but Anakin vs. Obi Wan was the GOAT duel among all the movies.
mace vs sideous and yoda vs sideous were pretty good fights too imo. Sideous lost to mace and Sideous fled yoda like a little sissy.

Nostalgia (the pain from an old wound)

If you grew up on Star Wars it means something that these current movies suck.

If you didn't grow up on Star Wars, it's easy to see why you would think the whole franchise is fricking terrible.

Why people who feel a connection to the original trilogy still feel a connection after the prequels and especially now is beyond me.

This thing was DOA when Lucas sold it.

That is exactly right. Think of it this way, as much as kids are into XBox and Playstation these days, that's how little kids were with Star Wars toys and the movies. Those little kids are now in their 40's/50's. That's a few generations worth of passing down the torch to the young ones, and them to their young ones.

It's kind of hard to have grown up with something that huge, and to not get excited about the idea of a new movie coming out, even though we all know it will more than likely suck.

but that doesn't detract from the greatness of the first two films.

It certainly detracts from making more Terminator movies.

Maybe the same fate awaits Star Wars sooner than it should have.

It's a testament to the power of the 3 original movies, they have created 40 years of inertia.

This is your opinion. And you’re entitled to it. As for me, I’ve enjoyed and love all nine Star Wars Movies.

I even liked Solo and Rogue One might be one of her best of the bunch.

Rogue One and ESB are top 2 for me.

While the prequels were a mess and CGId to death, they still had a ton of fun moments and finally gave us what we all only imagined in our heads as kids forever: Anakin and obi wan fighting ending in the former getting burned up requiring the suit.

I enjoyed the prequel movies. But to me the real best part of them were the novelization of each movie. They filled in a lot of gaps and gave a ton of detail the movies left out. For example, Ep. III shows us why Anakin turned to the Dark Side. But the movie only scratched the surface while the book told the true story.

Are the books still canon? I haven't kept up much with what is and isn't canon anymore.

The movie novelizations are still canon. I think most of the other books are not. It’s hard to keep up and I don’t even try. It’s all Star Wars to me.

I would rather watch Jar Jar’s TPM scenes on a two hour loop than watch TLJ.

The original three movies are awesome because they were solely focused on telling a good story that would captivate and entertain audiences (although as much as I love RotJ, you can see the greed starting to seep in there). Rogue One is also awesome because that’s all they really tried to do in that movie too. The remainder either exist only to cash in on the franchise (the prequels) or only to cash in on the franchise while also giving the directors/producers a chance to blow the minds of you squares with how progressive, visionary, and tolerant they are (the sequels).

This has got to be the most overrated movie series of all time. Almost every movie in the series is arse, yet the movie/tv board won’t shut up about it. What’s so immersive about it? If you aren’t a boomer, what do you legitimately like about it?

The Mandalorian
The Clone Wars (current animated series)
Clone Wars (the one done in Samurai Jack style)
Rebels
Rogue One

Some of the best characters came out of those shows, including Ahsoka Tano, Asaaji Ventress and the Clone Troopers.

Also, I would argue that Solo and Revenge of the Sith do not "Suck". They're not quite on par with the original trilogy, but they are not terrible movies. TFA wasn't incredibly bad, just formulaic.

Also, each movie has moments that make them memorable.
TPM - Qui Gon & Obi Wan vs Maul
TCW - Giant saber duel & arrival of the clone army
ROTS - Obi Wan vs Anakin

Solo - Escaping the Kessel Run

TFA - Finn & Poe escaping the dreadnought
TLJ - ...

Okay, so I can't think of one for TLJ.

I used to love reading novelizations. Jumping a bit, but the novelization of Wrath of Khan is actually REALLY good and fills in some gaps (like what happened on the station)

I think this is true of most movies. The Hunt of the Red October is a prime example. It was a great movie. I loved it. But the movie literally ends at the midway point of the book when the story is just really getting going. I remember sitting in the theater when the last scene ended and was expecting the fireworks to start and instead I see credits rolling. I sat there slack jawed they’d cut the story in half.

Forget the movies. The Clone Wars animated series and Rebels are legit awesome.

Can someone please tell me the draw of Clone Wars? I tried to watch it and got through a few seasons until I couldn't do it anymore. The dialogue is so clunky and tell me if I'm wrong, but weren't the battle droids one of the biggest knocks of The Phantom Menace? They are so much worse in this series. I hate anytime they have dialogue.

I like how they you get to see more details of the Star Wars universe with all of the other worlds and I get that it is a show for kids, but i just can't pull myself to watch it anymore.
