Age limits never followed any logic. A 16 year old can drive and work. So we trust a 16 year old behind the wheel of a 6000 lb jacked up super duty, but he just better not dip.

When the government is paying for the health effects that tobacco and alcohol consumption causes, I think it should have a say in what is consumed. There is no reason the govt should sit ildly by and watch Medicaid-recipients engage in eating habits that vastly increase risk of diabetes, heart disease, and cancer

What sort of practical, real world impact do you think this will have on Medicaid/Medicare costs?

s this the part where everybody pretends that other developed nations with universal healthcare / single-payer / etc. provide shite service, or that there is some other explanation for why our health care costs are so much higher? And then ask what we can do about our skyrocketing premiums?

My bad. I thought you had an actual plan or knowledge of how we can reduce smoking health issues.

The only one of those things 18 year olds should be allowed to do is enlist. Hell, one of the main reasons we’re stuck having this student loan forgiveness debate in this country is because 18 year olds are taking bad loans And can’t understand the consequences of those loans.

Majority of people older than that are stupid too. Voting should have an IQ test

go enlist and you can do both.
When did that change? I enlisted and still couldn't legally drink until I was 21 (stateside anyways).

No... I use tobacco, but unfortunately nicotine is the most addictive chemical on the planet, and it's being sold to kids.

It's being sold to adults, retard

I understood that (in Louisiana, anyway) a person under 21 possessing military ID could legally drink in a bar. But I could certainly be wrong.

I tuned 18 before they raised the age to 21, so I was grandfathered in

Now I just want to get you youngins off the road so my old drunk arse can get home without one of us taking the other out.

Well that escalated quickly... all I'm trying to say is that raising the age to 21 for tobacco is not a bad thing. Kids turning 18 are not an adult to me. I remember what I was like when I turned 18 and moving out right when I graduated HS. I wasn't making the best decisions. Arbitrarily marking the 18th birthday as the day a kid becomes a responsible adult is laughable. Especially when dealing with something as addictive as nicotine.

Eh, they're being told by other clueless children (liberal arts professors) that it's a good investment. The student loan debacle is just another example of the government "protecting people" like this stupid arse law.

There might be a few state and local laws allowing for it but don't get busted by your unit. I caught two article 15's drinking underage.

Ok, well make everything 21 then. None of this you're kind of an adult but not really bullshite. That's why it infuriates me to watch politicians make 21 the legal age for tobacco but want to lower the voting age to 16

ATC finna have a hiring spree baws.

Gonna need a lot more of those SOBs to catch the cashiers at stores not checking ID's on smokes now....and to catch the handoffs of joes from the over 21 buyer to the under 21 consumer in the parking lot.

That's not really the argument here, but I will say I don't think the voting age will ever be lowered. I think 18 is a good number for voting and court. 18 year olds are definitely not as informed, but like it or not they are being affected by these elections. Prior to 18 elections are more affecting your parents directly than you as a minor.

As is arbitrarily marking the 21st birthday as the day a kid becomes a responsible adult. shite, I was probably even more irresponsible at 21. When I was 18 I was stupid and naive. When I was 21 I was stupid, naive, and confident.
