CFP Final Rankings

With the 2nd to last rankings coming out tonight I'd expect them to look close to this.
1.OSU
2.LSU
3.Clemson
4.Georgia
5.Utah
6.Oklahoma
7.Baylor
8.Florida
9.Alabama
10.Wisconsin
11.PSU
12.Auburn
If chalk holds up this weekend it could change things alot.
1.LSU
2.OSU
3.Clemson
4.Utah
5.Oklahoma
6.Georgia
7.Florida
8.Alabama
9.PSU
10.Auburn
Baylor and Wisconsin would drop out of the top 10.
How could the committee then justify keeping OSU with 1 final top 10 win over an LSU with 4 top 10 wins? They would absolutely catch hell from the media.
1.OSU
2.LSU
3.Clemson
4.Georgia
5.Utah
6.Oklahoma
7.Baylor
8.Florida
9.Alabama
10.Wisconsin
11.PSU
12.Auburn

The committee will just make up whatever bullshite rationalization they want. They apparently have no qualms about being consistent or logical.
Beating the #22 team is just as impressive as beating the #4 team, if the committee says so. The opposite will be true the next week.
Looking "complete" is more important than SOS, if the committee says so. The opposite will be true the next week.
The committee format is a joke.

I will hold off judgement of thinking this until after the final poll comes out, because I don't think the committee has ever gotten it wrong.
With that being said, it is an absolute joke if LSU doesn't finish this season ranked #1, assuming they get by Georgia. What LSU would have accomplished up to that point would be absolutely amazing. There is no way they can justify putting anybody besides LSU at that top spot. And I think LSU will finish #1, so I'm going to hold off of my melt down.

The only thing LSU can't accomplish is beating the size of the OSU TV market. and sidewalk-fan base. At least not this year.
It's all about the $$/

No bama in the top 4, no care about seeding.
I actually think it would be awesome if LSU beat Clemson and Ohio state to win a natty. But not gonna complain if LSU gets the 1 seed.

LSU will have to be #1 beating another top 4 team
Hopefully we win impressively

The same way they're doing it now while LSU's résumé is better.

They already are outside of FOX.

I have faith that it's going to change back. I had been on the train for a while that OSU would jump LSU after Penn St/Michigan. I also strongly think they will reverse back in the final poll, as long as LSU takes care of business.
If it doesn't happen I'll be kicking over trash cans or something.

It absolutely should and you and I have discussed this already. I hope you're right and some sort of rationality is applied by the committee. But, for now, the argument is "we just think Ohio State is better." They aren't going by résumé.

I just wish that whatever they did had some uniformity. If you aren't going to penalize a team for a bad loss, then don't penalize another team for one. If you aren't going to weigh SOS heavily for one team, then don't use it as a reason for keeping another team ranked lower.
Hell, if you want to watch the football games and then sit as a group of people and decided who you think are the best four looking teams, then do it. It actually seems that this is what they are doing, they just are trying to justify it by saying other things and are contradicting themselves.

Exactly. We, as LSU fans, are looking at how the situation may play out rationally and coming up with the obvious conclusion that LSU will be #1 after another big win over a team in the own committee's top four. But, they aren't even being rational in the explanation of their own rankings. It's insanity.

I agree with you except I think OU jumps Utah. The Pac 12 will scream from the high heavens if that happens (and hopefully it will be another step towards a 6 or 8 team playoff), but OU will have played a tougher schedule.
It will be interesting to see what the overall SOS would be after LSU plays UGA. Right now, OSU has a significantly better overall SOS than LSU (26 v. 62). But like you said, a win over UGA would likely give LSU 4 top 10 wins to OSU's 1. Also noteworthy would be 2 of LSU's 4 wins would have come away from home, while OSU's lone win would be a home win. If, IF, the committee is supposed to be modeled after the NCAAT basketball selection committee, then wins away from home count more. Also, wins vs. good teams are MUCH more impactful than "bad losses" or even blowouts vs. average teams. The NCAA basketball committee says every year that the best teams are the ones that (1) can beat the other great teams and (2) can beat teams away from home. With a win over UGA, LSU would check those boxes more than OSU.
Another game to watch is the rematch between Cincinnati and Memphis this weekend. Cincy is (likely) still in the CFP top 25. That is a feather in OSU's cap. Another loss to Memphis would almost assuredly drop Cincy out. Texas proving just how overrated they were coming into the season has hurt LSU.

it would also help if Memphis beats Cincy again

LSU wins this weekend and that’s wins over UGA, Bama, UF and AU all of whom would be in the top 12.
Lol at the “complete” team bullshite holding us from number 1

If it lit a fire under the LSU defense (and so far it appears it may have considering LSU just had their best defensive performance of the season), then it was ABSOLUTELY worth it. For that reason alone I hope LSU remains #2 this week.

Yeah, it’s a joke unless we win the title.

The ultimate hypocrisy would be if OSU stays #1 because they "looked better" and OU jumps Utah because of resume. Utah has "looked better" by a lot over OU lately but has the weaker resume. Then the committee would be contradicting themselves within their own Top 4.

The "committee" can stick that right in its "eye test".

Hmm...if we only had a system of ranking that would provide uniformity. We could call it the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) rankings...
