Hmm...if we only had a system of ranking that would provide uniformity. We could call it the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) rankings...

We'll see how this changes after this week. If the ratio of votes in the polls remains the same, I don't see the computer polls flipping, but it's possible(5 of 6 polls have Ohio State #1).
Wolfe would be the most likely flip: LINK.

Obviously, this has no direct bearing on the CFP, but I believe that the CFP has matched the top 4 teams in this BCS projection every year. The order has been different in some cases.

I actually think it would be awesome if LSU beat Clemson and Ohio state to win a natty.

In theory, yes. In reality? There’s a much higher risk of injury and losing the game playing Clemson over Utah/OU/Baylor

I thought they dropped us to #2 to avoid an LSU v Bama match up. Well that scenario is done so move us back to our rightful #1 spot. Thx

That wasn't the reason but some conspiracy theorist LSU fans thought that.

IMO if they were using that logic, the last thing they would want would be an all SEC final. I think they would want the LSU/Bama semifinal to eliminate one for sure.

They want LSU OSU in the final, so I expect nothing to change, even if the tigers beat Georgia. The committee won’t trust OSU to get past Clemson.

The truth is Ohio State has played a pretty darn good schedule and done very well doing it.

LSU has played a great schedule, won all their games, but hasn't totally controlled every game like Ohio State has.

The metrica says that, the polls say that, and members watching the games have seen that.

That's why Ohio State is #1. It's not a conspiracy. Nearly every metric and poll has Ohio State #1.

What will the metrics say if chalk holds this weekend and LSU has 4 wins over top 10 teams?

A) Using rankings mid season rankings is disingenuous.

B) We'll see about the BCS projection(it's very close), but Ohio State has had firm control of nearly all metrics for a while now. That won't change with LSU beating #4 and Ohio State beating #10.

That’s not true and you know it. CFP is an absolute outlier and the old BCS will flip Right back to LSU with a Georgia win.

Coaches, AP, ESPN power, etc, all have LSU #1. Vegas Even has LSU favored over Ohio State in a potential matchup.

No one is buying what you are selling. The committee is trying to engineer matchups, and frankly, there’s not much debate about it.

If LSU takes care of UGA, They will have 3 top 10 victories and 2 top 5 victories.

Assuming OSU beats Wisconsin, LSU would have beaten 4 of the final top 10 going into bowl games. That’s fricking unheard of.

That's completely false. I can't even take you seriously after saying that.

Currently Ohio State is #1 in:

RPI
Massey Composite (nearly unanimous #1)
BCS projection
Game Control
SP+
FEI
FPI

LSU has:

Strength of Record
AP
Coaches
ESPN Power

To be honest, I don't even look at the website polls so you may have more.

The data supports the CFP's rankings. I'm sorry that you disagree with it

Who's using midseason rankings?

#1 OSU
#2 LSU
#3 Clemson
#4 UGA
#5 Alabama
#6 Utah
#7 OU
#8 Minnesota
#9 Baylor
#10 Penn St
#11 UF
#12 Wisconsin
#13 Michigan
#14 Oregon
#15 Auburn

Tonight, Minnesota and Michigan will drop. Bama will drop but not out of the top 10 and Auburn will move up.

If chalk holds this weekend, UGA will drop, but not out of top 10. Baylor and Wisconsin will drop allowing UF and Auburn to jump into top 10.

I hope Penn State gets matched up with a hungry Georgia or Alabama or Florida or auburn...any of them. Penn St is ridiculously overrated based on a very weak big 10.

I intentionally put those last so people didn't freak out. Those are predictive rankings and shouldn't be solely relied on to rank teams. They are a valuable way to find good data though.

It depends. If committee keeps Ohio at 1 next week, they will want to pump up Ohio's opponents rankings.
