Candidates who could put a shitty defense on the field for way less money. I think you can figure that out.

I disagree.
Aranda will fix this.

The idea that had we beaten Arkansas 56-6 instead of 56-20 we would be ranked number 1.....if that’s true then the committee is the single most flawed way of ranking teams I’ve ever seen
You can't act like those two touchdowns didn't happen. We stopped focusing and hurt ourselves.

Now he’s taking that 2.5 million, putting a poor product on the field, making LSU drop in the polls, and giving LSU a harder road to the national championship.
LSU could find someone for 500k to produce that result.
has to be a joke

Aranda is not missing tackles and blowing assignments
For whatever we reason we are a little behind on our defensive recruiting/retention of players and it shows on the field.
We don’t have the power up front and lack the depth on the back end of the defense.
Losing people late in recruiting, kids leaving the team and kids leaving a year early to the NFL has this defense a little short on depth and talent/experience.
The missed tackles, Divinity situation doesn’t help either.
I can’t lay this all on Aranda
However it baffles me how teams are converting the 3rd and 12 plus easily. It seems at every critical situation we give up the 1 st down.
And it can be harder to play defense when the other team is behind and slinging it all over the field because our offense is scoring in under 3 minutes, than when they are playing a slowed down offense with ball control to give their D a break because our offense just had a 10-16 play drive that took 7-9 minutes off the clock.

It's not poor is average
40th or so isn't horrible (like we've been told) ...it's perfectly average

That's a result of no pass rush!
The Michael DivIDIOT situation doesnt help as youve stated and losing Todd Harris is no small problem.
Aranda was given a brinks truckload of money because his defense could get stops and put the ball back in the Offense's hands where they could bleed 8 minutes off the clock. Now he's having to adjust to an offense that keeps the ball for <2 minutes. He doesnt have the personnel required in place for that type of play. He didn't forget how to coach defense overnight! He will adjust his scheme to play on the other side of this type of O and will get the players required to do so. You can't just flip a switch! we are 11-0 en route to the best season ever with the Heisman winner at QB and likely the Hornug and Bilitnekof winners at RB and WR! enjoy the damn ride!

OP isn't completely wrong, anyone who defends this defense just hasn't been paying attention, it's let down a lot this season and the offense has masked a lot of the potential railing we'd ALL be doing on it if we LOST games like Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss because our offense didn't score quite enough.
Even at 56-6 on Arkansas last weekend we left most of the starters out there and they gave up a long TD drive to a walk on QB in the end. They just have issues.

Issues like saying "who gives a shite" when you're up 50 late in the 4th? I'll take those issues any damn day! Once victory is secured I couldn't give 2 shits about the margin of victory!
Just win BeBe!

The defense obviously has had major lapses and of course hasn’t played up to the lofty standard to which we are accustomed. That said, Aranda has earned some benefit of the doubt. I shudder to imagine how the last 3 years would have gone without him.

I don’t understand why you are getting downvotes for calling it like it is. This defense sucks. Ppl still defend it also.

LSU could find someone for 500k to produce that result.
People would complain about the product if the guy were paid $7 an hour.
We are undefeated against a tough schedule.
You are not smart. You really should not start threads.

How about issues like:
- "Who gives a shite" after halftime in a 31-7 game against a 4-6 team and they proceed to put up 30 on us in the 2nd half and over 400 rush yards. Again, thank god for the offense to the rescue when the defense falls fla ton it's face and entire half
- "Who gives a shite" after we go up 46-34 on a team we haven't beaten in 8 years with 1.5 minutes left in the game and what do we do, play prevent/zone? Nope, man up bump and run on outside with little safety support and give up a 1 play 85 yard TD immediately on the ensuing drive taking a whopping 10-15 second off the clock and allow them right back in it with an onside opportunity.
Just a couple recent examples.
Again, OP isnt entirely wrong here, this defense is no better than the one we chastised to no ends in 2015 with Kevin Steele. The offense is just masking it all from most criticism. This isn't to say we should fire Aranda tomorrow, but he's earned a ton of criticism this season, that's for sure. This has been piss poor unacceptable defense this season.

Well as a former athlete I know I always wanted to beat the best, frick all of this harder road crap. These are college athletes, and I can guarantee they are licking their chops to get a shot at big ole scary Clemson and OSU. I know I would be.
