Dude played sparingly and these were his stats.

51-75
68% Completion
694 Passing yards
8-2 TDs-Ints

207 Rushing Yards
2 TDs

Based on those numbers I wonder what the 2008 season would’ve been like with him starting a full season. I know it’s in the past and it doesn’t matter but damn I think we’d have another title in 2008 or 2009

Not sure about a title, we had a bad defense in 2008 and didn't quite have enough talent in 2009 IMO. But at the very least, Jarrett Lee gets time to develop and is a better QB for us.

Honestly, Les Miles would probably still be here. The QB dominoes really fell and hurt us when Perrilloux left.

He led the country in passing efficiency when he was at Jacksonville State

Was thinking about this the other day. That Defense had its issues though so I don’t about another title.

Considering the outcomes of the 2008 games as well as the malveto DC fiasco, I think with competency at QB LSU goes 10-2.

UF and UGA would’ve probably still beat LSU, but Bama (Jarrett lee was so horrendous and single handedly gave them the game), ole miss, and Arkansas LSU could’ve beaten

Perilous was the reason we entered our QB talent drought to begin with. Freshman Jarrett Lee was the beginning of Les’ offensive involvement/downward spiral.

LSU is a lot better in 2008 with RP, although as others have said the defense (more the coaching than the players) would have held us back some.

Perhaps an even bigger "what if" is the 2012 season without Tyrann Mathieu. That season basically came down to a last minute drive by Alabama. We could have used him for that.

If I recall correctly, there was an article or blog post several years ago that tracked LSU's offensive woes all back to RP. The gist of it was that RP leaving left us with Harvard transfer, Andrew Hatch who goes down with a concussion 3 games in. We then throw JLee in who has a strong arm, but is inexperienced and is never able to stop throwing picks. Then we throw in JJ before he's ready in 2009. Then we experienced some bad luck in 2010 when Zack Lee decided to play baseball instead of football.

It's possible that Zach Lee come in, in 2010 we wouldn't have had the same string of offensive woes - possibly even having a 2013 level offense in 2011. All speculation obviously.

Also, Les Miles pulling the reigns on the offense really only started after 2008 after JLee kept throwing pick sixes all over the place. There was also some evidence that Miles was a little more willing to throw if he had a capable QB as we saw in 2013 (which obviously now pales in comparison to this year).

Perilloux would have been an absolute beast running and throwing in 2008.
Les wanted to run an offense with an athletic QB for designed runs and escaping the pocket. That’s why Hatch did ok when he was in there, only problem was that he was tiny and had a noodle arm. Lee was a statue in the pocket and you never knew where the ball was going when he threw it, and that made our offense one dimensional.

Perrilloux wasn't some savior. Perrilloux didn't play because of Perrilloux.

These hypotheticals assumed he would have exercised self control and exibited common sense while he was here.

Ryan Perrilloux's debacle was the start of LSU's slide downward at QB. Him not becoming what LSU needed him to be hurt LSU. Had he panned out and had the brilliant career it looked like he would have, LSU would have had more success recruiting QB's. That setback LSU's QB position for years.
