for his position he's definitely a better rebounder

So do we have to say giannis is a better passer “for his position”???

Rebounding is rebounding. Positions are for fans

Also Giannis has twice as many contested rebounds per game as Luka. Which is really a more telling stat.

Actually no. His is currently 33.7 while Lebron's was just slightly lower at 33.6.

Really surprising to me. Thought I just read that Doncic and Trae Young were 1st and 2nd in the league in dribbles or something like that so assumed his usage had to be really high. Thanks for sharing that.

I was comparing Luka's 20-21 (age) season to Lebron's usage is 30.4 this season.

My bad, I was thinking about minutes per game not usage rate.
In 2005/2006 when Lebron was 20 years old he averaged 42.5 minutes, Doncic is averaging just over 34 minutes.

Luca's per 48 minute rates are much higher in every category.

BGSU had bdubs
HAD being the key word; I think it's gone now. Anyways, I was there from 2008-2010 after undergrad, although I visited a lot in 2004-2008 since most of my high school went to either BG or Toledo and Toledo kind of sucks for partying so everybody met at BG (or came down to OSU) instead. I do look back on it more fondly (I did meet my wife there) as time progresses, and I think I unfairly judged my academic experience because it was sandwiched between OSU and UT, and my grad department was a bit weird.

But that's somewhat of bad comparison because of the increase in the pace of the game. For example, Lebron's pace during that season was 90.0 while Luka's is 99.4. So in 48 minutes Luka gets 9.4 more possesions. I think per 100 stats provide a better comparison. I posted this earlier but here are the stats per 100:

Lebron: 39.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 8.3 assist

Luka: 39.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, 9.0 assists

Yeah, I didn’t explain that well.

I meant that I thought Lebron’s usage probably wasn’t quite as high then. Obviously that was incorrect.

when we were td-gms drafting before nba,
I wanted him first overall.

Re aau ball, he was on his national team. And they were good.
I think having to play vs croatia is at least as intense as duke v unc, or villanova v st joes.

I've got a friend who's a die-hard Mavs fan. He wanted Mo Bamba BAD and was initially PISSED the Mavs took Luka, he thought the Mavs should draft for need and take a C

I tried to tell him Luka had the potential to be the best player in this draft and that I was jealous because I wanted him to drop to SA bad.

Didn't take him long into last season to admit he was wrong he listens to me now

Larry Bird is in everyone’s top 5 GOAT.
Not anymore.

And Nowitzki had nearly twice the career Bird had. Bird is vastly overrated. He had a seven-year run as a top tier player. All the others above had 10+. The truth is that Bird isn’t close to any of these guys.

Luca wont ever get the credit he deserves because he is white.
Took Dirk decades to get the respect he deserved. Didn't really start happening until he started passing all-time greats on the scoring list.

Not a great bet. Harden and Giannis will both win between 55-60 and have better numbers. Mavs will very likely be sub 50 wins. I can see Luca and bron battling it out for 3rd which would be outstanding for Luca.

I don't know what half of those advance stats are, but that is some solid analysis from what I did understand.

Why is everyone in this thread insisting on spelling Luka wrong?

Because he was good enough to play pro ball instead of high school... Unlike some other great players. That's how it works, right?
