Politicians giving each other trophies for overspending taxpayer money is really something.
They redid a road and they felt the need to commemorate it with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Meanwhile a few blocks over there is a collapsed building with two dead bodies trapped inside.

I saw one poster bitching in the comments that she's only concerned about tourists and wypipo.

was expected to cost about $6 million and be wrapped up by the end of 2017. All told, the project rang in at about $18.5 million.
I have no idea how these people keep their jobs.
I think the mayor can issue no bid work for around the six million mark. Give the job to home cooking, then they go over budget and get to do a large job they lose to competitive bidding.
Mayor win$ and cronie$ win.

Of all the awful mayors in the country, she’s the worst.

They're gonna let Latoya push the button for the implosion.

At least 2 bodies - do they really have any clue what is under all that rubble they cannot even get to?

Even one at 100,000 is insanity and outrageous let alone 3 at $170,000

Unless there was an illegal worker I would think the families of a missing worker would have come forward by now.

Well, you can technically get any job done if you really want to.
It may just cost lots more to get it done quickly

To be fair a lot of the cost overruns were because the infrastructure was in much worse shape than expected. They had to change sewage, drainage, gas and power conduits.

I swear some folks (1) love to complain and (2) love to complain about NOLA shite.
Hundred year old pipes, subterranean issues, heavily trafficked corridor, and hey it turns out to be more expensive than they thought and took longer too.
News flash - complex construction projects usually take longer and cost more than anticipated.
And here’s another - all politicians, including those you like and those you loathe - take credit for shite they had nothing to do with all the time.
But yeah let’s act like this is all Cantrell’s fault.

He didn’t want it to come in budget.
There is a lot of power and money in change orders and cost over runs.
