The complicated reconstruction job, which began in the spring of 2017, cost three times more than expected and came in 18 months late.

When it was kicked off under former Mayor Mitch Landrieu, the roadwork was expected to cost about $6 million and be wrapped up by the end of 2017. All told, the project rang in at about $18.5 million.
