Lol, damn boom. Dude just gave you a two weeks notice that you're getting shite canned.

Holy crap! Who gave him that buyout? That’s crazy.

It’s the difference between it being the largest buyout ever and not.

What kind of coach would go to SC? Is that a top 30 job?

Muschamp's buyout currently is $22.05 million
if schools like South Carolina are dropping $22.05M on a buyout, then this bubble is going to pop soon

It's been proven that you can win here (even Muschamp won 9 games here), and literally every other major program at the school has competed for or won a natty in this decade alone. It's not an elite job, but it's a sneaky good one.
It just takes the right combination of leadership and commitment. Our hope (which isn't a plan, of course) is that new president Caslen will demonstrate that commitment to excellence.
My prediction is that AD Tanner is out at year's end, and Muschamp gets another year with staff shakeups. Next year is the "show me" year under a new regime.

South Carolina is a historically terrible football program and will always be in the shadow of Clemson and even UGA. They need to take what they can get and be happy with what they have.

4-5 versus Clemson and 5-5 versus UGA this decade. 80k seat stadium and a loyal fan base with more reasonable expectations than most programs. 14th most valuable college football program per Forbes. Decent amount of in-state talent and close to states where we can scoop up decent players every now and then. We aren't Bama or LSU, but South Carolina isn't a bad job.

So do you think the Gamecocks will give Will another year? USC seems to be a difficult place to win consistently, and I would love it if the Cocks beat Clemson this year.

He's going to be Leach's DC on The Hill

I would take him to coach the D over Aranda

That buyout is insane. When did he ever have the leverage to negotiate that??

His agent is Jimmy Sexton and our AD is a Baseball coach

I was thinking of saying the same thing, but then thought better of it. Why wouldn't South Carolina want to compete with Clemson rather than living it its shadow.
For what it is worth, most people, possibly even the AD, thought the Orgeron hire was a low expense move to wait out Saban. You know what Orgeron says: RTWFU!
South Carolina has made the mistake of regularly chasing names: Holtz, Spurrier, Muschamp.
Muschamp was always a curious hire considering the egg he laid at UF.
South Carolina should find a hungry coordinator rather than some dude looking to golf.

Bye bye Boom...sounds like something a kid would say after his first potty.

Our BOT is the definition of a country club. As long as butts are in the seats and money is being made, nothing will change. I think Muschamp and Tanner will both be back next year and you will see a fan revolt in Columbia the likes of which have never existed in these parts.

It can be. That has been proven.

Is this tarnishing Tanner's legacy any?
I wonder if he ends up back in the dugout somewhere as a volunteer assistant or something.
