Well this will probably be music to some Cocky fans ears but it looks like Boom will not be long for SCAR. From the President’s comments he is going to need a miracle showing these next 3 weeks!

quote:

On Wednesday, USC president Robert Caslen pointedly declined to commit to Muschamp beyond 2019, telling The Greenville News, “Coach Muschamp is my coach. That’s the message. He will be my coach through the end of the season.”

They would be stupid to fire him at the end of the season with them wanting to replace AD as well. That's how we got Chad.

Maybe so but that would be just another candidate for y’all so maybe you might want that to happen

Doesn't he have a ridiculous buyout? He's likely not going anywhere.

I don't see SC as the type of program that pays a coach 18 million not to coach. That's more of an Auburn thing.

Yes that is why our AD is getting fired too. The buyout doesn't get much lower next year or the year after that, would be stupid to let him coach one more when everyone knows he is a dead man. First step is to replace our AD, (which looks like it will be Brad Edwards) and then let him hire the next coach.

I actually hope we do it.
We need to start throwing our weight around. All this money and nothing to show for it. Need a lot more bagmen too

Muschamp's buyout currently is $22.05 million, here is how much it goes down by year:

If terminated on Jan. 1, 2020: $18.75 million
If terminated on Jan. 1, 2021: $15.3 million
If terminated on Jan. 1, 2022: $11.7 million
If terminated on Jan. 1, 2023: $7.95 million
If terminated on Jan. 1, 2024: $4.05 million

So if we wait until next season to fire him we will still owe him $18 million. Might as well eat it now and move on, it is going to be a large buyout.

Exactly
I don’t really see $4m being that much of a difference

Yeah, might be worth it to go ahead and do it. Is there a mitigation clause? That might help offset the buyout as well. I suspect Muschamp will pick up a good coordinator job at least.

Holy cow. That's a lot for South Carolina. Not trying to sound snobby, but that's a lot!

He'll come back to work for Saban before he saddles up with that douche Tom Herman.

I’d assume there is. And it’s not like we have to pay it off all at once.
ND paid Charlie Weiss for a long time.

Exactly the buyout is high whether he is fired this year or the next. You have a highly ranked QB that is supposed to be a star. Do you really want to waste his talents for another year.

If he goes 4-8, Vegas says that is exactly what is going to happen as y’all aren’t favored in any of the remaining games, Boom is gone. The catch would be I would assume the next AD would like to have a say in the next hire and that would mean Tanner would have to leave before the firing. Interesting that is for sure

Please fire him. We need a DC that doesn't have his head up his arse. We can reunite Boom and Nick and let the good times roll!

According to some, we have an even bigger QB talent coming in next year as well in Luke Doty. Don't want either of them being ruined.
