Played through 3 a few times but never finished NV. I feel I need to streamline the main story or I'll get lost and still not finish.

I don't understand how you can always have FO related sigs/avatars, but not have finished the best game of the series (and IMO, the best game of all time).

In his defense it is very easy to spend 100+ hours in Fallout games and never progress the main storyline.

it is funny how thoughts have changed on Vegas.

When it came out people called it a cash grab buggy mess. Now people talk about it like it is the best game since the dawn of man.

It's an easy way to go when people want to start shitting on Bethesda. I personally prefer the Capital Wasteland over Vegas and the west. In fact, New Vegas, the city, itself kind of killed the Fallout vibe for me. But I feel I owe it to myself to finally finish out the main scenario.

Holy crap thanks for this. I didn't even know about GamePass on PC until you said this.

I think New Vegas is the better RPG. There are a lot more ways to influence the story based on how you build your character.

Fallout 3 is very combat-focused. Plus, in Fallout 3, it seems as if every interior has the same appearance

We might want to change the thread title to FO discussion.

I agree with you. The Captial wasteland had a much better vibe. NV was great for me because I grew up there and new all the little spots. I spent a lot of time as a kid in the super mutant lodge

I'm sure I'll play Outer Worlds at some point, but the fact that a good portion of it is linear is kind of putting me off.

I tend to agree with this. I am still going to buy and play, but I am worried about the linearity. Still, Obsidian is a solid developer so I am sure they had their reasons.

FYI, PC game is playable now.

Just played about an hour and found it starts off well. I haven't had any performance issues or bugs. Playing on a Ryzen 3700x with a 2080RTX.

Just played for about 3 hours. Game is very good. Playing on Normal and the combat feels a little too easy, might bump it up tomorrow.

Graphics, dialog, and voice acting are all polished. Only noticed one "bug", where I never brought up that I needed a power regulator for my ship, and yet my NPC companion started talking about it during a mission.

Oh man oh man, I’m going to spend so much time on this game. Being able to use medical, tech, engineering, etc for dialogue options has me super pumped. Haven’t had a game do that in a while, and it reminded me how ridiculously shitty fallout 4 was.

Got up to Edgewater and hung it up for the night. Everything feels polished, menu is easily navigable, combat is satisfying (I’m playing on hard, everyone said normal is too easy), writing is witty and actually funny. Great start!

On the PC is there a way to turn off the smudginess? I assume it's the AA they're using.

Played last night and had a fun moment.

I'd indicate spoilers on this, but it's super early on, but just in case there's that one person............

Created my character and usually I'll just name them my real name. You come across this ship with an AI who says that she can't take orders from anyone but the captain. I informed her the captain was dead, and she was wink wink "so you're Captain Hawthorne, right?". I play along, and she prints me out a new ID card.

Keep going till I get to the first city, and eventually I run across an NPC that has my name............so I stopped to think "did the game reassign my identity to this one NPC because I became the captain?" But then the NPC said the name out loud and I was "HOLY CRAP THEY GOT TEXT RECOGNITION TO WORK".

Took me a bit to realize that there was just an NPC with my name in this game.

I’m really enjoying it so far. Good depth to the RPG elements, the gameplay is fun (although I’m not sure hard is even that difficult, and I’m not especially good at shooters or video games in general), and I’m enjoying the setting and the sort of firefly feel to it.

And for me, the stuff that some people might not like (there’s not a huge open world, it’s relatively short for games of this type, etc.) isn’t a problem at all. Sort of refreshing if anything.

I'm not getting the Mass Effect comparisons I keep seeing (got a total Borderlands vibe in the first area with the music), but I only played about 10 hours of ME2 so I'm not the best judge of that.
