The part of the beam with the counterweight looked like it fell into the building

On the Rampart side it did at first and then it continued to tumble all the way down to the street.

The canal side was blown cleanly and looked like it landed in the lot on the ground or in the street too.

The slow-mo replay really reveals a lot

Patiently waiting for the gas line explosion, that in turn will demolish the building, and take down the other crane.....then the UNO idiot can claim it's a huge success!

Meh. Worst outcome would have been a yuuuge piece of crane landing on someone or something outside the fenced off area.

Taking out an adjacent building would also have been worse.

I wonder if Latoya and McConnell heard the blast, with their heads up their arse and all.

Demo the entire building and let it all fall in place.

Should have been the original plan

Now that the majority of the top heavy stuff is down, that's probably the idea. Get that last jib down, then drop the building in toward those elevator shafts.

She said it was a success in the sense that the two counter weights are down, and one crane came down and it looks like there's no serious damage to surrounding historic buildings.

The remaining crane and cab are a problem.

I would imagine they will have to get a big crawler out there to take down what is left of the crane that is hanging on and demo the spear in Rampart.

I would think the imminent threat of wind taking something down is gone.

But watching on DVR in super slomo, once the crane on the left plants into Rampart there is a piece of crane with cables attached that goes somewhere farther left.

Where is the camera situated? We could use that and compare to a map.

I gotta imagine that gas line was cut off and emptied well away from the building.

WWL has video from their building on rampart. The street and streetcar lines are very very fricked.

Any engineers here have an explanation on why they didn’t just implode the whole
Building with the cranes coming down on top of it?

Seems like even if they were successful with knocking the cranes down they were going to bounce off the still standing building.
