Unless your HOA owns the roads, they can't say shite

You knew the rules when you bought the house. Don’t complain when you can’t do whatever you want.

Just one more reason I'd NEVER live in an area that has an HOA with neo-Nazi type overseers who let a little bit of power go to their heads and ride roughshod over residents with trivial bullshite.

Agree 100%, people need an area for trailer parks and Mustangs on cinder blocks.

HOA are good and bad. There was a time when we first moved into our neighborhood that we were very "involved" with the community, events and HOA. Seeing how the board, which at the time was a bunch comprised mostly of retired, pretentious oil engineers, treated homeowners left me with a very soured view of these individuals. Granted, I do appreciate the "rules" as it is a neighborhood and not a trailer park. However, being a prick is just unforgivable. I have had meany battles with them over the years, regarding things as they saw it and what actually played out. The last one that pissed me off was when they wanted to cite my widowed neighbor because her pool was green. When she asked me why they would do that, I told her because they are assholes!! She's from Jersey and let's just say, she's still got spunk. I have helped her get her pool chemicals in line and now her grandson takes care of it for her. My point being, these pricks just send out letters without doing the neighborly thing, like asking a widowed woman if they can offer to help her with her pool, in person. Also, to add to the story, it's because our hall monitor of a bitch woman who rides around on her bicycle had to peer over her iron fence and shrubs to see that it was green.
So the good part is enforcement of things that don't lower the value of your property, but the bad is the tyrannical rule these mojo's think they possess.

I like when neighbors have mosquito factories in their backyards.

Seems the HOA did their job, how far would it have gone had they not made her realize the simple solution?

I should have clarified more. The pool was super chlorinated at the time of being green, filter running and polaris working, so I highly doubt any mosquitos were thriving. The chemicals were imbalanced and she was trying to rectify it on her own (her husband used to take care of it).

To your point, an elderly widowed woman, whom everyone knows in our small neighborhood, should be treated with respect, and not threatened with a letter. She is a very kind woman and I believe someone should have contacted her, personally. It's a swimming pool, not a cesspool you dolt!

I stopped paying my stupid dues a long time ago bc of the shite that flys in my neighborhood. People parking in the lawns really is the thing that pisses me off the most.

I understand that it may be too difficult for you to read between the lines, so I'll help you by providing some speculative clarity. I believe some of the points he is implying are:

1. Small neighborhood; everyone knows each other
2. Don't be a pussy and hide behind a letter, do a respectable job & have an interpersonal conversation first to attempt to rectify the issue.

Im implying that he is complaining about an association thar he is a member of. Thet are doing his bidding.

He is hiding behind his neighbor being old to defend her not taking care of her duty. Amazing how all of a sudden the problem was solved when the HOA got involved.

Some people need a kick in the arse to not be a bad neighbor.

I had the same problem with my HOA and my babysitter. We told our babysitter to park on the street in case she needs to drive our kids somewhere in our car because it has car seats.

HOA sent a violation. I sent a copy of the e-mail back from the city telling me it was not illegal to park on the street during the day and the HOA can’t legally enforce that because they don’t own the streets. The HOA shut up after that and the HOA president refuses to look me in the eye anymore.

I was very polite and cordial during the process and it made everything much easier.

Some arse complained about her sports car sitting to long and not being used. They complained to the city and had the city Blight Court threaten me. If I find out who the bastard/bitch is who complained about my wife's car I will break both of their shins. I will. "

All of our cars are parked in the driveway.

You and that poster say that, but that poster sure as shite didn't try to help her with her green pool before the HOA got involved.

All the things he's implying, that logic dictates that he should have been a better neighbor to offer his assistance to help her out before it came to that...but he wasn't.

Amazing that he wants the HOA to pick and choose when to enforce rules and play favorites.

Surely, nothing bad can come from doing that.
