Next time tell they people coming over for the party to park in front of the HOA President's house. Then take pictures and report him.

Awe man, come on. You are stuck on your point, as well. I have agreed that HOA's serve a great purpose, but this instance just rubbed me the wrong way. Perhaps I care too much for her, especially since her husband passed, and was defending her honor more than anything. I hated seeing her frightened as her husband surely would have handled this notice with the quickness. I have a lot of respect for her and her family, they have always been kind to my family and are great neighbors.

Im with you that more tact might be able to be used, but that should be on a personal level. The HOA itself should treat every situation the same to remain impartial. If that means sending a letter then so be it.

No I didn't do these things, but in my defense, the main reason I didn't speak to her or see how she was doing is that I have no clue where this woman lives

HOA itself

Just to be clear, because I haven't stated it, our HOA is comprised strictly of residing neighbors. It is not a subbed out HOA, or management company, but the people that live next to you. I have lived in the neighborhood of 76 homes since 1995, so I know and am known by pretty much everyone.

It ain't that serious. I've been in 2 different ones for about 10 years and never had a problem.

Some people prefer to live in a secluded meth trailer. To each his own.

Our HOA is pretty lax. I can only think of one instance where it used it’s power. A flipper bought a house in our neighborhood and then did nothing to it for 9 months. We contacted him several times about the yard looking rough with no response. So after 3 months, we hired one of the neighborhood kids to mow the yard, trim bushes and break down branches, and the HOA sent the flipper bills for each service.

Other than that incident, our HOA is just a means to throw neighborhood parties with HOA dues.

I wasn’t ridiculing economic statuses. I was ridiculing a man willingly paying to subject himself to another person telling him what he can and cannot do with something he paid for.

Take your insecurities elsewhere child.

Just curious, what jurisdiction do you live in?

By that I mean where do you get building permits? Who sets your zoning laws?

Are you arguing that parish and state governments are the same as some old arse woman thinking she’s the Queen of Sheba because she’s on a subdivisions HOA committee?

ETA: And note I said “willingly.” You willingly move to a place with an HOA, it’s not as easy to move somewhere without local authorities.

You're a man, you are letting another person tell you what you can and cannot do.

Don't crawfish; be a man!

I can see the advantages of living in a HOA.I have lived in 2 subdivisions without HOAs and most of my neighbors kept their property presentable. But there was always that trashy neighbor that kinda ruined the look of rhe neighborhood.I couldn’t deal with the rules that would not let people have a party and have cars parked on the street for a few hours.
Now I live on 140 acres, maintain 2 acres for yard.Down sides to that also but nobody tells me what I can and cannot do.Except my wife has to go look in my tractor shed and then bitch about what a mess it is.

Because usually it looks trashy as hell. Its almost never nice, newer looking boats that get parked in view of the street. Its ends up being old busted up flat boats, or boats so old that the fiberglass turned yellow instead of white, or rust bucket utility trailers left on the side of the house. Basically, mostly eyesores for everyone else in the neighborhood...which is why every HOA I looked into when I was house shopping all had rules that prohibited boats or trailers from being parked in view from the street.

So it's either HOA Nazis, or a trailer park, with no in between? The OT
