re: Lanard Fournette leaving LSU

If given the choice of Lanard moving on or Curry leaving because he felt he was buried by the depth chart, unfortunately this is the one I would pick.
I think it's pretty evident that the freshmen have passed Lanard up, or were in the process of passing him up, but I would like to see Curry get more involved. I think he can be a bruiser of a back in short yardage situations.

Exactly.
None of us know his situation so it’s wrong to judge.
Maybe Les made him promises that O couldn’t honor (because he didn’t make them and/or for the sake of the team). Maybe he has a kid on the way. I’m sure somebody knows but I doubt the true story ever makes it here.
He played 4.5 seasons at LSU. Wish him well and move on.

Perhaps you've never heard of the idea of honor? Keeping one's commitments is obviously a foreign concept to you.
Again, I'm not mad at Lanard, because we really are unlikely to need him. But those of you in this thread sucking him off and gushing with thanks to him are pathetic. The guy only got a scholarship to play football at LSU as a favor to his family, because of his brother, and the way that he repays that gift is to throw it back in the face of the university?

Good for him. Go get playing time.

No, he didn't. He didn't play much at all, because he wasn't very good. He did take up a scholarship for five years, and in the only year when he could actually contribute in a meaningful way, he quit because he wasn't getting enough playing time.

I hate to break it to ya, but Lanard is one of the thousands of athletes who will be going pro in something other than sports.

Have you ever quit a job before?

He played for 4.5 years and got his degree. Showed up for practice throughout that time, played scout, went to meetings, did everything that was asked of him.
I’m going to guess he’s probably more than earned the right to make a personal decision to walk away when his heart isn’t in it.
I don’t see you complaining about commitment when a coach processes these guys to make room for a bigger recruit.

You're trying to change the subject.

That's actually a great analogy. The appropriate thing to do when quitting a job is to give proper notice -- two weeks for most jobs, and most people do that, because they are honorable people. I'm a business owner. I've had a few crummy people just quit by simply not showing up to work anymore, which is a terrible thing to do to their coworkers who will have to pick up the slack until someone else can be hired and trained to do that job.

Good for him. Now we can give more touches to the talented true freshman.

Here's an idea - get off your fricking high horse and go frick yourself in the face.

No you’re the one that wants to talk about honor. Let’s talk about the honor on the other side of this situation. Unless you’re afraid it’ll show you as a hypocrite

Seems like he gave all the notice they would’ve taken. Would you have rather him announce this and play two more weeks?

Wish for him he wouldve stuck out the season, cant get back the possible regret down the line. With football when someone decides its time to quit then its time to quit.

Don't know if it has been mentioned, but will he get a ring if we win it all this year

No, I would rather him finish the season, which is the agreement he made when he accepted a scholarship this season.
The way that some of you devalue an LSU scholarship is disgusting. I guarantee you that there are some walk-ons who's parents have been working a second job to pay their son's tuition so that he could play on the team.
Go the Bama board if you don't actually care about LSU.

Could someone please introduce him to the Utah State coaches this weekend for us?
Posted on 10/2/19 at 2:15 pm to MettShow69
Let's not bury our heads in the sand here. Lanard was part of the deal to land Leonard. Nothing more, nothing less. We would have given his sister a football scholarship if necessary. Good luck to the young man.
