We have a new lease while the donor and their family’s came to an end.
This is the part that would really get me.
I hate that something like this is necessary.
I can't wait until we can somehow grow internal organs in a lab somewhere and we don't have to wait for someone to die or get killed somewhere and hope the body parts they leave behind will help us not leave this world so soon.

Good news for your son and a life changing thing is about to happen for him.
Unfortunately, the kind person, or the parents of that person who made it possible for this to happen by agreeing to donate organs on their passing are on the other end of this spectrum.
I have a friend who's 10 yr. old son got hit by a car many years ago and was determined to be brain dead. They consented to have his organs used to help others and that gesture truly helped them to deal with their loss a lot easier by knowing his life was not in vain and through him, others had a better quality of life.
I've been a designated Organ Donor for over 40 years and hope when the time comes some of my organs can be of use to some unfortunate person.
Good luck with your sons recovery and future. He's a young man with a lot of life to live and this kind gesture will go a long way in making that much easier for him and bring a sense of normalcy to his life.

Happiness and sadness on this one. Someone lost a family member but that family's sacrifice changed another family's life for the better. Hope this works out for your family OP ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbow.gif)

God Bless your Son and your family.
My Dad was the recipient of a Donor Kidney when he was on Dialysis in the 1980's.
I remember it improving the quality of his life.
I imagine things are way more advanced 30 years later.
I Pray that your Son and his new Kidney have a long and happy life. And that you and your SO be around to enjoy it with him.
eta: I was just getting thru with College when my Dad received his Donor Kidney.I was at a party and a girl I knew informed me that my Dad's Donor Kidney came from a Sorority Sister of hers',who had died in a wreck while traveling home from the U. of AL.
I think it was important to her family to know that their Daughters' Organs were living.Helping someone else live.
I'm an Organ Donor,for sure.

I'm very happy for your son and your whole family. I pray that the surgery goes well and that this will be the start of a new chapter in a long, fulfilling life.
And to the donor... Thank you, and rest in peace.

3days? That’s unbelievable. My mother waited years.
Best of luck with the new challenges ahead. I wish I could offer you help in what today will bring you, but to be honest, it was such a roller coaster ride my memory has been erased.
I can tell you this. It truly is a new life, not only for your son, but for your family.
Keep us updated.

It goes to show you never know what someone else is going through. Particularly someone you converse with on the internet for years at a time. I am happy for you, your son and the rest of your family. And prayers to the other family as they lose someone. I’m sure that comes with it’s own set of emotions.

No one knows how much we care about our kids unless they are a parent. The intense devotion to them only increases when faced with adversity.
Best wishes to you guys for a positive next few weeks and great holiday season.
