I would love to see what modern day publishing houses would think of his short, succinct style.

Old man and the sea is my favorite.

Hemmingway’s Whiskey was written and originally released by Guy Clark.

I’m not a fan of Hemingway. “Old Man and the Sea” was a good story with a horrible ending. Didn’t care for the majority of his “short stories”. “Islands in the Stream” wasn’t a bad story, but I had a hard time keeping my attention. IMO, I’ve never understood the hype.

Gore Vidal edges out Fitzgerald.

"Lincoln" is my favourite book ever and "Julian" is close second.

You can thank Ezra Pound for editing Hemingway's writing.

Visited the town in Slovenia where Hemingway based, and started writing, “For Whom the Bell Tolls” this summer.

Pretty awed by being in this small village with such historical significance.

He's definitely my favorite. Aside from his classic novels, his short stories are always a good read. "The Snows of Kilimanjaro," "The Short and Happy Life of Francis Macomber," and "Three Day Blow" are probably my favorites. He writes some great stuff about hunting and fishing too.

He has a book of short stories and newspaper articles which is worth the read. In it, as a reporter, he decides to go out and interview a hit man. Who the hell does that? Hemingway, that's who.

He's good. The advantage of his simple writing style is that you can read it when you're tired. "Big Two Hearted River" is a simple pleasure.
