Good luck. Lafayette barely passed a vote accomplishing this. All while having local politicians with the help of Jeff Landry and Ken Ardoin trying to sabotage the effort.

It’s amazing how The Advocate is now a small government conservative...people don’t want to be trapped in EBR city parish shenanigans with people like Broome and Paul

If I am going to pay taxes, I want it to be to local government. It’s how America should be. State and federal taxes need to be reduced, local governments covering more small areas, where you see your taxes in play and can hold representatives accountable.

love the bolded part in BRAC’s statement. This is the crux of what they are worried about. That “shared and spread risk” translates to the people who have jobs and made something of themselves footing the bill and paying the way for Baton Rouge to piss away the revenue.

Except it isn’t “shared”. People who aren’t contributing shite to the program are enjoying the benefits. Doesn’t sound like sharing to me.

This is ProgFilth saying straight up:

The Parasite does not want to be removed from the host.

Just saw that.

I love the "why were the boundaries redrawn?" red herring. My naive lefty niece claimed it was because of race until I explained those areas didn't support the petition drive the first time, indicating they didn't want to be in St.G. Why should St.G try to force them to be in the city? Why should St.G. seek to guarantee "no" votes on the election?

Of course... no answer.

BRAC is a corrupt organization that does nothing but self dealing and only supports things they can get money from.

If you ever see BRAC say they support something, vote against it. If you see BRAC say they are against something, vote for it.

Pretty much. Why would they? They benefit from the host. The host gives up everything to the parasite, and gets jack shite in return.

If either of my children grow up to be like this, I will consider myself a failure as a parent, especially since I was once that stupid and voted Democrat.

That’s Lipsey’s group. I wonder what he has to lose by opposing St George.

If someone sat down and did a chart showing tax revenue raised by zip code and then overlayed it with tax dollars spent by zip code...

I think that single graphic would push every St. G voter to YES.

My issue with St. George. They do not have the infrastructure. And their plan is horrible. How are they going to pay for schools, teachers, police, fire department, trash, and all the small things I’m leaving out? Also, do they realize the second this happens EBR police won’t get their calls and only the state or sheriff office will? Talk about crime going crazy. Also, the school issue is huge. Every kid that attends a magnet school would no longer be able to attend it. And what about paying for teachers. Hate to tell them, every profitable business that brings in lots of taxes already annexed into EBR in preparation so st George would have no choice but to tax the residents a ridiculous percentage just to stay afloat.

It’s obvious that you have no clue as to what SG receives in the way of public services.

SG doesn’t receive fire protection, schools, or law enforcement from the parish govt.

You need to educate yourself. These things have been discussed for months.

Not paying for schools or teachers yet since there's no SD.

If and SD passes, property taxes in the SD will go to pay for the schools (and not EBR).

St.G is already paying for fire (St. George Fire Department) and police (Sheriff). They would have to pay more for more dedicated units in the city, but they would not have to have a full fledged PD from the start (state law would require them to have a Chief of Police).

Already paying for trash as that is a parish contract/expense.

St.G is not seceding from the Parish (would be awesome if it could). Parish wide services would continue to be provided.

State police doesn’t take calls for service and Baton Rouge city police only take calls inside the city limits. Sheriff will continue to service the st George area so no change
