It’s happening regardless of what anyone says and it will be better for the city in the long run.

i love this "conservative" argument

completely ignores the fact that if/when StG happens, EBR parish government should decrease proportionately

oh wait

THAT is the problem

Can we stop saying the name of the newspaper and just say the local newspaper? Also, you don’t need to link the article. Just copy and paste the important parts. There’s no need to indirectly support or promote that garbage.

I don’t think Baker, Zachary, or even Central got this much resistance.

To be fair, none of those are nearly as populated nor situated as squarely in metro BR area as the proposed St George area. This is a very large percentage of the taxpayer base for BR and it will cripple BR proper.

Whether or not you care or think that's a good thing is really The debate at hand.

That's what happens when you cater to your least capable.

I never understand why it bothers people that communities want to be a real community that's self sufficient and prosperous.

My choice is to pretty much do the opposite of what the liberal pansy asses at The Advocate suggest.

And there’s the problem.

The producers are fed up with having their taxes pissed away by the takers and then being told they have nothing to say about it.

Fine. Henceforth, the takers can try standing on their own two feet. The prospect of that scares the living shite out of them.

I love this. Let's take a closer look.

Start with the appeal to authority. "The Greatest Generation" created the city parish model therefore it must still be the best for Baton Rouge. I mean, how could they have been wrong? They were the Greatest Generation.

Second: "path to progress." There's the magical key word right there, "progress." This is all coming from a progressive point of view. Here it is manifested as "everything that I like and agree with is progress and progress is inherently good."

I thought so too, but a lot of people on my next door app are ignorant and say the taxes are going through the roof. Sheep.

I live off of Hoo Shoo Too to give you an idea who are my neighbors on the Next Door App.

EBRSO already answers every call in the St. George boundaries. St. George has more than enough tax revenue to pay for all of these services.

Your argument is stupid and you show how uneducated you are by saying BRPD will stop responding to calls outside of the city limits... something they have never done.

Does anyone remember if the Advocate was this left leaning back when the Manships owned it?

Thank goodness newspapers are ineffective and almost useless now since they are all being scooped up by Dem backed propagandists, you can reach more people through social media now than with a newspaper.

The ones I have seen that are against it are the stupid arse old women who frick everything else up already. Unfortunately there are a decent amount of them.

When we go vote for St George will we need to check the YES or NO box?

I can see the state making the question about 500 words long like they do constitutional amendments and then wording the question at the end something like "Do you not not want to incorporate St George?"

The left wasn’t nearly as obnoxious back when the Manships owned the Advocate as they are today. That’s a fairly recent phenomenon.

But yes, when they owned that rag, it’s editorial page had a decidedly left-leaning bent.

I believe I saw a sample ballot the other day and it was very straight forward, shockingly. I am sure the SG organizers will ensure they get the word out if the state tries some bullshite.
