I actually agree with Saban's statement yesterday on scheduling.

I say bring it on.

ETA:
Schedule could look something like this:
2 Power 5 NC
6 SEC division games
1 Perm opp game
Home-and-home with 3 non-division SEC opponents for two years, the the other 3 the next two year--similar to how the Big XII used to be.

Good for CFB, bad for NFL. This will wear down players throughout a season and college career along with potentially more injuries. Just my two cents.

The issue is the need for those Power 5 schools to have 8 home games. And, it isn't as if TV revenue will make it all okay. The local restaurants and bars, etc thrive on home dates.

People enjoy the tailgating, etc. It is good for the student body, etc.

So, if it were an All P5 schedule, there is NO WAY that the others will accept a road game only. Thus, 8 home dates converts to 6. I think this is a non-starter.

Agree. 10 SEC games would be fricking awesome.

10 SEC games
1 Power 5 game
1 game against whoever

God that would be so much more fun. The way the SEC schedules now is total garbage

First Bama schedule with 9 SEC games will be the west + Tennessee, Vandy, Kentucky with an OOC game vs Wake in Atlanta.

We’ll probably have @OU, Florida, Georgia and a spike year top 15 South Carolina.

More quality games the better, but no one will blink doing this on their own first (just scheduling better OOC).

I dont see any team playing 12 power 5 opponents, but maybe at least move to 9 SEC opponents, 1 power 5 OOC to get more in line with the other conferences.

I can't remember the last time LSU played 8 home games. It's always been 7 as long as I've been a season ticket holder, and two of those are usually garbage that I can't even give away to friends or family.

Saban is whining just to whine. He knows good and well they could play UAB,South Alabama and or Troy which are all D-1 and would generate lots of interest. But they won't play in state teams. They'd rather play UT Chattanooga and New Mexico State.

Great coach, but obnoxious horse's rear end.

I’m 100% on board, though he could lead by example and not have Duke as his “premier” OOC opponent and quit scheduling crap FCS teams at the very least

It would likely be home-and-home series scheduled like more and more are starting to do now.

It would be losing one home game though, but in my opinion, having 5 home SEC games and 1 home P5NCO game is better than the 4 good games plus 3 powder puff games we typically have now.

This year we host GS, NWSt, and Utah State. Come on.

People cannot grasp how hard it would be on the players to play this kind of schedule.

THESE ARE STUDENT ATHLETES. Not pros.

Look at how many people are going to be out this weekend. If we had to play a game like that each week, injuries would mount up even more and potentially get worse. It is not healthy for our players.

Mental fatigue, physical fatigue, injuries, you name it. Again, they are STUDENT ATHLETES.

Furthermore, having some easier games allows you to develop younger players. 4 tough, great games, 4 good games, and 4 easy games. that's what I'm in favor of. Then there could be the SEC championship and playoffs. That's a balanced schedule that works for the players and coaches, and should be good enough for the fans.

I wonder how true that statement really is. Seems pretty self serving on Sabans part. Just need to go the home and home route like we are doing now. I doubt Clemson would duck a home and home with them. Probably quite a few other teams would take up the challenge but you have to be able to agree to a home and home. Cant believe that no one better than Duke was willing to play them in the chik-fil-a game either. We have future (and current) home and homes with Texas, UCLA, Clemson, Oklahoma, and Arizona St.

I like 9/3 with “ super conference “ home and home OOC round robins scheduled by random lottery. The REC could supervise it and ensure it’s integrity.

So take a random SEC team . Let’s say Aggie. They get nine conference games and then randomly draw Colorado , Kansas State and Northwestern. LSU draws Oklahoma, Clemson and Ohio State. Bama draws Oregon State, Kansas and Illinois. And so forth...

Tell me about those P5 schools that are coming here? Very few can afford that. Also, that 8th game for LSU has been a Neutral Site game ( more money and more access for fanbase to get tickets, etc). Next season, LSU will have 8 (UT returns the trip).

LSU sold a shite ton of beer at a GA Southern home game. Are they going to give up 2 games of THAT?

We can pretend it is not so...but, it is so.

maybe......maybe not. this is a tough one.

it would be hard to pass up an undefeated team from the p5 if you have a loss. so......you'll have to pray that they lose one or two as well.

at least sometimes.
