I cant remember at what point this board became this, but it sucks. Why do we feel the need to talk shite about people who don't share the same opinion as others?
I am guilty of it as well but it doesn't mean I like it. He has seen the movie and it isn't his cup of tea, why not debate with him about why it isn't instead of attacking him which will cause the thread to go to shite.
You didn't say if you have seen it yet, maybe you wont like it either,

Given the length of the book, I’m wondering how they got it down that short
I get that. Haven't read It yet, but I'd say that King's long books that I have read (The Stand, Under the Dome, 11/22/63, and the last 3 Tower books) really lost the thread in their respective back halves.
Hopefully this isn't long to indulge King's sense of spiraling narrative. Is the back half of It as good as the first?

agree. a lot of critics not wild about the run time or ending.

I thought The Stand and 11/22/63 had decent endings. I'm with you on Under the Dome and Dark Tower.
Sticking the landing is King's achilles heel.

Well, the book isn't split into before and after. You spend time in both time periods for a while, and once The Losers get back to Derry as adults the back and forth picks up faster and faster to the point where you're essentially watching both stories, past and present, take part parallel to each other. It's why by the end of the book, the scene with them standing around in Barrens and cutting their hands and holding hands is so powerful...because we've seen what they've gone through as kids, and how much they're still connected as adults. It's why that really didn't have the emotional impact in the first movie as it should.
FWIW, the book could never really be done as a movie or two. Not really. After being disappointed with how much they needlessly changed in the first movie, all I've thought about in regards to this story is how great it would have been to be a 2 season long animated show on HBO, or Netflix or something. REALLY tell the story as King wrote it. He's kinds good...no reason to re-imagine anything.

But yeah...if you haven;t read it, you should. I'd also recommend getting the audio book if you like those. Steven Webber from Wings read it...at least the one I have, and he nails it.

They address this in Chapter Two.

Eh, i was fricking hyped for this, used half a day of leave to head to the theatre and catch it at noon. There were 20 minutes of previews prior to the start, which doesn't help this movie that feels really fricking drawn out anyways. It was just incredibly slow, Pennywise wasn't too frequent in the beginning.
There were some very stupid moments that were intended to be creepy, but just ended up dumb. The lil eggs hatching from a very inatimate object and Golum Grandma come to mind. Ended up leaving about halfway through as it just wasn't there for me unfortunately.

Watched earlier today. Chapter 1 was better, but this one was good too.
I laughed at The Thing reference since it's probably my favorite movie of all time.

Man that opening scene was really gratuitous. Also kinda pointless

Is Ricky gay in the book too?

I don't get the point of leaving when you already paid. Like, a movie would have to be a complete (and literal) shite show for me to walk out.

I liked the first film better.
Whoever did the casting though for the adults was spot on....Bill Hader nailed his role.
The cheap jump scares were aplenty as well. I rolled my eyes at some of the monsters.
Pennywise just didn’t do it for me this time around, I don’t know what it was.
How they killed Pennywise was just silly...shouting at it and calling it names...Really?
It definitely could have been trimmed down. I found myself looking at my watch towards the end.

Felt like the longest film I’ve ever had to trudge through. Some good performances, but Jesus, hire an editor.
My wife is a hardcore King fan and she was severely let down.
Hader kept this from being a total loss.

It's 3 hours long, at an hour and a half in if it's just not what I was so excited for, I can either wait another hour and a half of something I don't necessarily care for, or can reclaim an hour and a half of my time.
Not sure why that's hard to understand

Haven't seen the firm but have read the book. I was curious how this would play out on screen because it seems impossible to visually translate the book it you try to hold true to the story.

Read the book!!! It's better than the old movie and the new movie.
Does the movie have the gang bang or the magic turtle in it?
