According to an unmentionable writer with initials GG, if you rule out the current SEC

No. 9 Texas will be LSU's highest ranked, non-conference, true road opponent since at No. 4 Notre Dame on Sept. 12, 1981, in ND coach Gerry Faust's college debut. Pretty crazy stat if true.

Did he check any other SEC schools for comparison?

Saying if you remove the SEC teams LSU plays now, Texas is the highest ranked Non Conference true road test since 1981. I had to put my thinking cap on that one. Just seemed like an extremely long time for that.

Sure didn’t want to give any clicks to anything he writes or posts, yet this place is unbearable if you don’t post a link for facts, but yeah.... be the typical idiot here.

What was Wisconsin ranked when we played at Lambeau? I realize that doesn’t meet the minutia in GG’s criteria , but for all intent and purposes it was a road game. Not sure of the intent of his article , but LSU has played a ton of big non conference road games going back to 98. Notre Dame, Arizona, Arizona St, Washington, West Virginia, Virginia Tech (I am sure they had a decent rank in 2002 when we played, as didn West Virginia).

Virgina Tech was #16 when we went there in 2002, West Virginia was #16 in 2011.

We played them at a neutral site and by ruling out the current SEC I’d guess A&M would have been the answer

ETA I think Wisconsin was unranked

FSU late 80's early 90's had to be good. Not sure what A&M was ranked when they returned the opening KO against us in 90-91 (right after the announcers said "LSU has the number one rated special teams" lol). I don't think Ohio St. was ranked in top 10 when we played in Columbus either.

They were #1 when they came to BR in 91 bit were #12 when we went there in 1990.

They were unranked but weren’t very good those 2 years

We have a huge game in the road. GG points that out and the rant goes nuts.

It’s only week 2, Texas top 10 ranking nor our ranking hasn’t even been earned, it’s all based on opinion by people who are wrong all the time.

I’m surprised that GG didn’t write a feature solely about the TD that Burrow under threw....
