I was telling my family a week ago when we drove passed this that I wanted to do this...not any more.

In before "That could have been me"

BRProud.com video

quote:

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WMBB) — Saturday night a Panama City Beach slingshot ride gave tourists quite the scare.

The slingshot ride at Cobra Adventure Park on Front Beach Road, broke while two passengers were strapped in and about to ride it.

This video shows two people strapped into the Cobra ride and an employee getting ready to slingshot them off when suddenly the cord holding the ride, shreds into pieces.

From there the ride was canceled and the passengers were removed. We reached out to the riders but declined to do an interview.

Well, that's relief!

We were down there last winter and the ride was sitting idle. In that environment, sun - salt air - humidity - heat all summer. I commented to the people in the car that I wouldn't get on that ride for any amount of money.

Bungee cord finally gave way under the strain of hundreds of obese riders.

Looks like the operator was just about to release them. They are fortunate to be alive.

"We reached out to officials with the Department of Agriculture who are responsible for inspecting the ride..."

Well there's your problem.

the ropes were already frayed & shredded before the 'snap'.

who the hell would get on a ride with obvious fraying?

Love how the riders basically didn't react. That one guy just kept his hands up like - frick it let's still ride this thing.

Meanwhile the ride operator was running for his life.

May be time to look into their maintenance plan on those cords. You could tell it was in bad shape as soon as it was under tension.

Remember when those girls were parasailing in PCB and slammed into the condo? That was epic.

I don’t do these rides for that reason. That and Final Destination.

One time I didn’t was a few years ago with a friend.

The Veruckt waterslide in KC. Had a sore neck for half a year. Still have issues off and on. The real kicker is two weeks later a gov officials sons head got depacitated. Evidently quite the blood smear going down.

Big nah.

Spend time on YouTube watching people pass out on these rides. It's good for a few hours of laughs
