It's always the retired MLB players who seem to get into legal trouble i.e. Esteban Loaiza. On average, MLB players get about 25 days off over the course of a seven month season. They barely have any personal time off which is why they have a fraction of the off-field issues that football players and athletes in other sports do.

My comments were based more around his insistence on going back to the DR each offseason vs staying in the states to work out like the team has asked.

And also based on HAVE YOU SEEN CARLOS MARTINEZ?

Time to call my buddy.

He’s from the DR and goes back nearly twice each month. Just bought a house these and knows quite a few big leaguers.

When he isn’t home(Tampa) he’s in the DR or Aruba or wherever.

I’ve speculated for a while that he’s a drug lord. Says he works in construction

Pretty sure they talked about him during Astros game the other night. Whatever pitcher they were against passed him up for number of teams played on

To be fair, if there is a narco bust in the DR, chances are there are some MLB players involved. Just a percentage thing.

He may be in construction. Just probably building shite for drug lords.

I’m sure they pay better than anyone else on the island.

I hope MLB doesn't punish all the teams Dotel played for for harboring a drug dealer. If so, half the league would have to shut down.

If MLB was going to do that, the Pirates would have been contracted after their mascot was selling coke to players in mid-game.

Edwin Jackson has played for 14 different teams which is the most all time.

Octavio Dotel played for 13 different teams, which was 2nd most all time.

What shocks me are the players going back to the shithole they came from. Once you got the money, get the frick out cuz everyone and their brother will want a piece of you.

Is it not possible that being raised in a shithole full of scumbags leads to you being a shitty scumbag that likes to take part in those things?

Every MLB baseball team has a training compound down there that are heavily guarded. They are all mostly right next to one another in the Boca Chica area which is about an hour from Santo Domingo

The former players go back to recruit and scout for teams and take kids out of the slums and bring them to these compounds....the drugs and money is how they pay the families to let the kids go and sometimes determine what team the kid goes to....sometimes the kids are traded from team to team until they either get called up or sent back to the slums......
