Apparently they have a no intervention policy. I recently told an employee that someone was walking out with a full basket of groceries (shrimp, meat, beer, liquor) and they told me that there is a no intervention policy for shoplifting at Whole Foods. If you suspect it, kill them with kindness but do not stop them or follow them out. Definitely can’t call the police. I feel like this is just encouraging the local trash to help themselves to the free grocery give away. Is this how stores operate now? Have I been doing my shopping all wrong?

Yes. They'd rather not open themselves up to lawsuits or have employees get killed saving $100 worth of groceries.

Why intervene when fools like you pay their prices?

They're not losing money.

Wish there was a market for crew-served beanbag machine guns. Not only for shoplifters but the worthless turds that can't figure out how to use cart corrals.

They just don't confront them for safety reasons, pretty much just like any other store in any industry.

BUT LIBERALS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, in regards to not confronting them.

Not sure about this part, though.

Every retail business has a no-intervention policy. This is nothing new.

The losses from stolen inventory are nothing compared to a potential lawsuit or PR hit that would result from someone stopping a thief who would then in return cry racism and media outrage ensues.

Best to just let them off with the stolen inventory.

Why not just pay a cop to stand at the door?

Whole Foods would 100% use video footage to try and track culprits down. They are just doing the right thing and not asking their employees to sacrifice themselves over a few stolen conflict-free, cage free, organic, grass-fed carrots.

Whole Foods cares more about their employees than a few dollars lost on product. Not sure what the issue is here.

Whole Foods is trying to compete for the Wal-mart shoplifters.

Same thing happens all day everyday at Academy. People walk in and fill their arms up with clothes and then just walk right out to the car waiting on them at the front.

If you shop Whole Foods, keep in mind you are subsidizing their no intervention policy. You are paying for thieves to take items and endorsing their behavior.

Grats.
