Pete Rose broke Ty Cobbs hit record, of course it took him twice as many at bats but still.
And if anyone doesn't know Ty Cobb is still the greatest baseball player of all time.

Canseco said he personally injected Pudge Rodriguez with steroids many times and nobody cared. In fact, Pudge got in on the first ballot.
The difference? Bonds admitted to doping allegations. Plus it doesn't help that he's always been hostile to the press and members of the press are the ones who decide who makes it into the Hall of Fame.

Popular or not, this isn’t a crazy statement at all.

If Barry Bonds retired after the 99 season, he would be a consensus top 10 position player of all time and probably the first unanimous HOF selection ever. But he got jealous so he can wait.

The difference is that he hit 73 HRs in the steroid era and had a giant head. It's equivalent to some of the communist bloc women's track and field records from the mid 1980s. In a sea of dopers they stood out like a sore thumb.

Gotta love baseball writers. "He didn't kiss my arse because I stuck a tape recorder in his face. No Hall of Fame for youuuuu even though you only did whatever everyone else in your era did, and were wayyyyyyy better at it! One time Jeff Bagwell gave me some sunflower seeds out of his locker! He gets to be in the Hall of Fame!

Not just Bagwell, but Biggio, and Pudge fricking Rodriguez. I mean, if you can’t see that those 3 juiced, you’re too fricking stupid to have a HOF vote. Or a driver’s license.

I love this angle. So the Hall is basically BS and doesn't mean anything. It's just who the media liked and wanted to see rewarded..

I mean, yeah. Barry Bonds knows what he did and knows how dominant a player he was when he was in his prime. He doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who wants or needs validation for his achievements.

If you add pretty much ANYONE from the steroid era, you have to add Bonds.

It has more to do with how big of an a-hole he was. Bagwell wasn't hated by the voters like Bonds is. There are plenty of guys in the Hall that have asterisks by their stats.
Those media members shouldn't have votes if they can't properly apply the criteria for making the HOF.

Why don’t you like Trout? Did he do something I don’t know about?
Posted on 7/20/19 at 1:50 pm to SwaggerCopter
Yeah. Greatest power hitter to play and he can't get a look.

So a top ten all time player shouldn't get in when other juicers do because he became another level of dominant when he started juicing?
Barry only gets a bad rap for juicing because he was head and shoulders above the many other guys juicing.
Compare his 73 homers to McGwire's 70. Bonds hit .328 to McGwire's .299 and murdered him in OBP and slugging. One of the craziest stats in Bonds's steroid era is that he had 232 walks and 41 strikeouts in 2004. WTF? He had more homers than strikeouts in 04.
I don't know how you can be ok with Bagwell, McGwire, etc and say Bonds should wait. He juiced the same as they did, but was just much better than they were on the juice.
