Indeed again and that's why he deserved the political ostracization and outcast status after the election.

And created an entire industry (computer data services). Managing to create not only the original company (EDS) but a major competitor (Perot Systems).

Why oh why did he jump out of the race, just to get back in at the last minute? Unless to aid Clinton.

Those Trump voters in the rust belt that recognized the globalist Republicans voted for Perot.
I still wear his t-shirt.

yep

Given what we know now about the clintons and the bush family do you really think that election was genuine? I think it was a show.

Personally I think it was a ploy to take Bush out. Perot was in a 3 way dead heat with Bush and Clinton when he "dropped" out because IMO he was getting too close to having a real chance and winning the damn thing..So he gets back in later knowing he can't win but can affect the outcome...which he did.

His favorite slogan was "I'm going to get under the hood and fix it"....well...he did.

Who knows what percent of his 1992 vote would have gone to Clinton or bush. I do believe if he didn’t go crazy and drop out in 92 before coming back he could have won. Or maybe he didn’t go crazy and just didn’t want to win

And Perot was straight of of central casting. The "show" does not necessarily need to be the full on contrivance you are implying.

My brother, who posts on the O-T and The Rant, and all but worships Ronald Reagan... he was deep on the Perot Train in 1992.

I asked him why back then, and he showed me that Perot was going to take business/industry practices into government. He was going to hire competent experts to FIX problems using expertise in business. If they failed, they'd be replaced.

I considered voting for Perot, my first presidential election, but I didn't. I KNOW we'd have been a better place as a country if he had won in '92. All things being equal, he would have been better than Clinton and G.H.W. Bush.

Rest In Peace, Sir!

Here's the 1992 Electoral College Map:

LINK

Perot did not run on a liberal platform. It was far more conservative and he absolutely peeled off enough votes to affect the outcome.

In a state like GA that went to Bubba, Clinton won 43.47% Bush 42.88% and the little General took 13.34%....yeah..he flipped the election

“If I’m President, we get 0% growth, you don’t pay me nothing. 1% growth? Hell, a chimpanzee could run this country and make 1% growth! So you don’t pay me dime one. Got my own plane, don’t need Air Force One. State Dinners? I’ll pay it, it’s nothing to me, sand on the beach! Now, don’t worry about ol’ Ross Perot, I got $3 billion back at home.

Now, here’s the deal. Here’s what I’m trying to tell you. 3% growth in our economy, $120 billion growth in our GNP – I get a billion dollars. Now, think about it, that’s a bargain! You’re up $119 billion. I’m telling you, 2.99% growth, I don’t see a penny, not one red cent. But don’t feel sorry for me – I got $3 billion. I’m gonna be fine.

Now, this here’s a business proposition. Now, see, 4% growth, you pay me $20 billion. The way I see it, you’re ahead $140 billion, see? Now, this ain’t no golden parachute, this isn’t the President GM giving himself a big bonus when the company’s losing money sending jobs to Mexico. I get my money if and when you get yours.

Now, 5% growth, I get $50 billion. Everybody’s happy, see?”

When I think of Perot's famous one liners it's this one....."That giant sucking sound is American jobs going to Mexico ". Little did we know that giant sucking sound would eventually be heard coming out of Slick Willy's Oral Office.

He would have won if he didn't drop out of the race mid way through because H W was going to leak naked pictures of Perot's daughter.

He could've been Trump before Trump, but he was missing a couple of key components.

PS - There goes Dana Carvey's career.

What states did Perot flip? What states with 10+ EVs did Clinton win that was close? Georgia, Ohio and? He won PA by 9, Michigan by 7.5, Wisconsin by 4.5.

Clinton won the EC 370-168. If you give Bush Ohio and Georgia, Clinton still wins by 140. This wasn't a nailbiter.

Sorry to hear that your brother had the delusion that Perot ever intended to win in the first place.

And it was impossible for Perot to win anyway so he wasted his energy and his vote.

If no one got 270 votes, the democrat house was going to pick Bill Clinton as President anyway.

Perot gave us Clinton.
