I just saw on sports center that woj reported were looking to trade the 4th for picks 8 and 10. Not a fan. You can still potentially get a superstar at 4.

Draft. Garland.

I would be ok with trading down if I knew that for sure but I think we need to hold onto the pick until we're on the clock to see who falls to us

If the Knicks draft Garland our pick becomes even more valuable because of RJ.

I’d strongly consider taking him, too.

I read that the thinking is there is a big drop off in talent after the top 3 and very little drop in talent in 4-14.

8 and 10 give better odds of hitting on at least one of them. No they may not be superstars (altho they could) but we've got that in Zion.

The perception is changing for some reason.

Garland is now THE hot player amongst the guys on the 4-8 tier.

I don’t know how much of that is NBA execs falling in love with a guy without much film and how much is Griff spinning bullshite in the media that people are actually buying.

Either way, if the perception is there that Garland is worth more than any of those other players, I keep fielding calls to see how much of a premium someone wants to make the jump.

If there isn’t a good enough deal, take him. If there is, we either get a needed veteran and/or more of a warchest for future seasons.

The Rockets will pursue J Bultler...

If he lands there, that is one less free agent our beloved Lakers can pursue.

The future drafts will be soooooo sweet...

Only the Knicks would do that. I would LOVE the Stephen A melt watching that.

I’m wondering how, exactly, that works.

Houston’s got about $125m in salary committed already and a number of those contracts, like CP3’s, aren’t going anywhere.

Maybe they are dumping Capela, Gordon, and Tucker for picks and space or they are sending one or more of them to Philly as a sign and trade.

Those are the exact three rumored to be on the move from Houston...

They would have to be. The only other contracts of any size are Harden, who isn’t being moved for Butler, and CP3, who couldn’t be moved for anything right now.

Where is this Garland hype coming from?

Not quite sure.

Some of it is through teams like they Knicks having him do workouts despite being in position to draft Barrett instead.

Some of it is through the perception that teams are negotiating with us to trade up to 4 to get him.

A lot of it could end up being bullshite but you always have a few players who leap up the draft board between the combine and the draft.

Combine and workouts have been impressive.

Plus with the amount of teams needing a PG - Bulls, Suns, Pacers, Magic,

He scheduled a workout with the Knicks (who pick 3) very late in the process and just a couple days before the draft.

I think a lot of it stems from that.

There are posters here who think or are jokingly suggesting that Griff is leaking stuff the build up the hype to maximize the return on a trade of pick #4.

I'm kind of afraid his "potential" is a matter of not playing a season against college players and coaches drawing attention to blemishes on his game

I trust Griffin, but this feels like a Demps strategy. Sacrifice youthful long term talent for a young vet that never seems to work out.

If you can draft a star like 4 like Garland, you take him no questions asked unless you're getting a star back in the trade. I just don't see how you can pass up on a talent like Garland.

Gordon/Tucker would be good fits in PHI

Simmons
Embiid
Gordon
Tucker
Johnathon Simmons
Ennis

With a bunch of money to spend is pretty good

Also speaking of the Sixer's they have interest in Brogdon
