Tom Fitzmorris gets snobby about Deanie's

This is classic snobby Tom.. He's killing me.

Not very far into my career reviewing restaurants, so we are talking a long time ago, I sat in the dining room at Deanie’s in Bucktown. When it was the only one. As is too often the case, I was unwittingly privy to a conversation at an adjoining table. I have often quoted it. In perfect Yat, one diner said, “Dis is da woist seafood I ever ate.” His companion concurred, “Yeah, but dey sure do give ya a lot of it!”
My wife has always laughed at that story, even as she didn’t really believe it. With a recent visit to Deanie’s on Magazine, she does now. We were immediately struck by the size of the average customer here. Clearly they appreciate the generosity of the house.

Probably a closet Stouffers lasagna fan.

Did he say anything that was incorrect?

Tom has lost it. I was a fan for a while, but his nonsensical rantings and his apparent memory loss will be his certain demise.

Check out Tom’s new Instagram page. It’s a great resource for all things New Orleans’ food.

I don't disagree w/ him. I don't care for Deanie's

Guy is the worst and should be taken out to pasture. Paul, you must be 80+

Yeah Deanies sucks but that’s basically like telling everyone not to buy Enron stock today

They can't all be as upscale as New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood Company

You would know about being in the closet.

That is the most complimentary he has ever been about Deanie's. He never has liked it, even when he and Mark Chafici used to work for the same radio station.

Well deanie's is kinda crummy.

Report on the food....it wasn't necessary to opine about the size of the average customer and their appreciation of large portions. Considering the size he used to be - and having an overweight wife, he should be a little more sensitive regarding weight and size.

That’s unnecessary

Paul - you have a favorite Montauk spot? I was underwhelmed with the dining scene, although there were some great spots to grab a drink and enjoy the water and weather. Duryeas comes to mind.
We stayed there for about 5 days...I’d never go back or recommend anyone go. Whole trip was meh.

Harvest on Fort Pond is great. Give it another try. I think you’ll enjoy it.

The group we met there enjoyed Harvest. My wife and I had a terrible experience though. Food and service were both terrible.
An interesting bit was at one place, Muse maybe, I responded to the waitress as “mam.” She said no one has called her that in the entire time she had worked there. I apologized in case she was offended and she she said no, she was glad to hear it. She asked where I was from and she was actually from Slidell.
Maybe Navy Beach was the bad experience. I can’t recall.

Paul, he’s lost it. You need to face it. A review about the size of the customers is not a review.

I'm not a fan either. I liken it to a sit-down to order Rocky & Carlos, only the food is not as good as that St. Bernard establishment.

It appears Tom Fitz has lost the ability of subtle trolling his base.
