Yes they suck but robo strike calling isn’t going to be entertaining at all. I see umpires all the time that miss calls out of the zone but it is consistent. It adds a new strategy and dynamic to each game. Hitters have to adjust and so do pitchers.

Get rid of Angel Hernandez & you have solved about 50% of the problems.

What if the umpire could slightly adjust the strike zone that the robot is reacting to before each game, within reason, to be reflective of what he thinks it should be.
Then the robot tells him strike or ball into an ear piece so he can be demonstrative with his calls.

I am fine with keeping umps in the game but they need to be held accountable when their zones are completely fricked

This is another good option.
Basically give them grades based on robo-scores. They can map all the strikes and balls for a given game and give them consistency scores.
If you're really shitty, you get demoted to the minors, where they also do this. And if you're great in the minors, you're promoted.
Although I'm sure the umpire union or whatever will fight like hell to prevent this.

Eddings strike zone was a true beauty last night. Pitch after pitch 3 inches off every side of the plate called strikes. Bozo show.

Except they’re not consistent.
You could literally program the automated zone to call the strike zone based on the ump behind the plate and it would be 100% consistent.
I’m so tired of seeing batters strike out because they have a better eye than the ump. Or pitchers making a perfect pitch and it gets called a ball.

How many people attend and watch baseball games to see umpires call balls and strikes? The great umpires are invincible because they aren't making any screwups that draw your attention. Baseball isn't football, basketball, soccer, and hockey where foul calls and infractions are subjective. The officiating can be very easily automated and getting the call right 99% of the time instead of 90-95% of the time would greatly improve the game.

Umps are graded based on the robo strike zone now, if they consistently are missing pitches then they lose the ability to call games.

See my post from above...best of both worlds.
Umpires would have somewhat personalized zones (within reason) and would be able to make the demonstrative calls for strike three, etc.

Or just have accurate strike zones based on what the rules of the game should be. If you want umpires being demonstrative, go watch The Naked Gun.

Why? Nothing will be missed by not seeing some fat slob blow a perfect pitch becauae he was lined up incorrectly.
Baseballs problem ia speeding up the game...this would help. The home olate guy stays there and replaces balls, calls at the plate, etc.
The worst part in all of aports is having to watch those fricks call balls and strikes.

Baseball is beautiful because of the little things. Baseball has its own nick names and little chants from the dug out. It also has its own language regarding umpires. Can you imagine how stale it would be to NOT have umpires to boo or to taunt? Not being able to say simple things like "Come on Blue"? Its these little things people are completely forgetting when talking about getting rid of umpires. The game would be even MORE emotionless. Can you imagine a bang bang play at first base and having to look up on the jumbo tron and wait 10 secs to see if he is out or safe? That takes the pure emotion out of the game. I hope they never get rid of the umpires.

I'm kind of with you but there is very rarely justice for bad umpiring
I mean, sometimes the underdog has to win, otherwise it's not very interesting at all.
