So making it to Super Regionals don’t mean anything because we lost to Southern?
We lost in the Super Regionals to a team we are better than.
We under performed our pre-season expectations.
We lost a series at home to Ole Miss for the first time since Reagan was in office.
We lost a series to Arkansas for the first time in close to a decade.
We lost to Southern for the first time in like 15 years.
We had our worst win% against in-state competition under Mainieri.
We were under .500 on the road for the 5th time under Mainieri.
I'm not saying all of this is reason to fire Mainieri, but it's not good.

If we weren't in the strongest BB conference, we don't host a regional. If we lose the first game of the tournament, we don't host a regional. If Georgia doesn't lose their eegional, we don't host a SR. Lets be honest, an LSU team that was predicted to be a top 3 team needed several breaks to host a SR.

why do our fans say we sucked. We were disappointed, but the team did not suck.
Pretty simple: at LSU, losing 27 and 26 games in consecutive seasons is unacceptable.
Making the postseason may be good enough for some programs, but not here.

Amazing the shite this guy took and still takes for what’s not a remarkably different program than what the savior, Mainieri, has produced. That 2009 title has skewed the comparison way more than it should.

I get it. You’re fine with substandard results and a for the program. Doesn’t mean everyone is.
Again, a Super Regional is substandard?
Where did LSU end it’s season last year?
Regionals in Corvallis?
We hosted a Regional & a Super Regional, that is not a clear downward trajectory.
Do things need to change?
Yes but firing CPM isn’t necessarily the answer

You have any idea how much we make with the camps?

The Smoke decline is not what we remember. The guy had one bad season, before that he had two trips to Omaha and next to last season finished first in SEC west. He just had the misfortune of following Skip.
He did follow Skip, when the program was truly flying high, and proceeded to miss Omaha 3/5 years and going 0-4 the two times he went.
I guess Mainieri got the benefit of the doubt in 2010-11 after winning the title in 2009, but those teams went on the road for a regional one year and then didn't even make the tournament the next.
This LSU team won 17+ games in a division and conference that placed 3 and 4 teams, respectively, in Omaha, hosted a Regional, and lucked up into hosting a Super.
The sky has not yet fallen, but there are obvious criticism that need to be addressed.

What is acceptable?
Going to Omaha?
Are you ok with going to Omaha every season but going 2&Q?
Or does it have to be the finals?
Can LSU lose in the CWS finals every year & it’s acceptable?
Or does LSU have to win at least every other year?
I’m just trying to see what exactly is acceptable

Who do you believe he should fire to free up a paid coaching spot?
The one person who doesn’t coach pitching or hitting and is terrible at his game day job.

Since LSU won the title in 2009, EIGHT different teams have won a national championship, many for the first time in their history. The only repeat champion was South Carolina at the beginning of this time frame.
The scholarship and roster limits have changed the game. The 1990s are long gone.
However, certain things in the program should be and need to be improved going forward.

All assistants need to be looked at hard. If no changes are made and we are similar in result next year, without hosting a regional, he should be gone

Dunn, ochinko, cain, all of them should be worried. None have performed up to expectation

Things need to change starting with staff.
This season was a disappointment but not as terrible as it could have been imo.
There seems to be no gray area whatsoever with the board, LSU isn’t going to win a NC every season, it’s not going to happen.

The results prior to these past two seasons were fine IMO.
Hovering 10-14 games above .500 at the end of the season is a disappointment.
Losing the SR isn’t make or break. But having a team that overachieved just by hosting a SR is disappointing.
Too many losses these past two seasons. The postseason losses wouldn’t sting as much if our team didn’t rack up so many during the regular season.
The teams we’ve had here the past two years haven’t been good enough to compete with top programs and win. That’s the problem.

How much is made on the camps?

That’s a great question. Personally, I think a coach should be a good leader with quality preparation and shows a willingness to put himself out there for his team. Make smart choices and clean up what needs to be fixed at practice. Base running. Plate discipline. Proper coaching by the assistants. It seems like this year we never had a quality leader in the dugout. Very poor decisions were made when we needed to be more forethoughtful. We lost games we shouldn’t have lost considering our talent due to those poor decisions (not walking their best hitter with first base open). I want a quality product on the field. Good hitting, solid base running, etc. The rest will take care of itself. I’ve been a Paul supporter for years but LSU baseball takes precedent. Besides, going to Omaha is fun as frick. Geaux Tigers.

So making it to Super Regionals
So now this is the standard for LSU baseball to be "A-OK!"
Why do people defend mediocrity so much at LSU. In the world of college sports, good enough can kill a great program.
LSU was not good enough this year. They started preseason #1, but due to injuries should be afforded some slack for the mediocre regular season, but They got healthier and won a weak regional. They earned the SR and backed into a home SR. FSU is/was playing at a high level, but LSU should be a team that beat these hot teams when playing at home, but no, just making a SR is good enough. Two years in a row losing in a regional or SR puts LSU as a team outside of the top 10. What program going in the right direction should settle for 2 years in a row at a 10+ ranking finish when it's considered a top 5 (likely a top 3) program? If next year's results aren't better that's 3 years in a row of outside the top 10. NOT ACCEPTABLE!

I think putting a competitive team that makes the CWS and is a true threat, not an underdog who upsets a team, on the field at least every 3 years. The minimum acceptable standard is a top 16 seeding almost every year which is where we are now, the minimum acceptable standard. I understand rebuilding, the MLB drafting the best recruits, and limits with coaches and scholarships, but EVERY program deals with it, so the common denominator for top tier programs is the coach's management of the program... EVERY detail.
Maineri is doing it right now at the minimum acceptable standard, but next year will be a true test of the direction he's taking the program.

I appreciate what he’s done in stabilizing the program after Laval,
You appreciate him stabilizing the program? He won a national title, been to Omaha 5 times, and plays in a super regional almost every year. I agree that there are issues in the program that need to be addressed but don't act like we have been just squeaking by since PM took over the program.
