Devin Fontenot Pitched Out Of His Mind, And Deserves A Standing Ovation Next Season!

We lost, our season is over, we got beat at home, and LSU is not going to Omaha. This can piss off any fan and cause them to lash out. But it also means we forget to talk about what we saw last night from Devin Fontenot.
He pitched out of his mind! Prior to last night, his longest outing was aganist Kentucky when he pitched 5 innings and reached 60 pitches. That was his limit. He never, ever, threw more than 60 pitches in a game.
Until last night...
In the Bottom of the 6th, down 4-2, CPM brought him in with 1 out and a runner on 1st. He would not give up another hit until the Bottom of the 12th when he gave up a single and then the eventual game-winning walk-off hit.
However, from the Bottom of the 6th until the Bottom of the 12th, before he gave up that first hit, he had 0 Hits and 10 Strikeouts. His final pitch count was 96 after throwing 6.1 Innings Pitched.
Hats off to this man for flat out leaving it all on the field last night and giving us a chance.
Looking forward to next season! Geaux Tigers!

Very gutsy performance. He has the right fire in his belly for it.

He did. He’s always had the stuff. If he does it consistently next year then he’ll make himself a nice chunk of money next June.

He got a standing ovation last night. Following each time he returned to the dugout. The team received one too. Although they made mistakes that cost them the series, there was no lack of heart on that field this past weekend.

I don’t think this has been posted & didn’t want to start a new thread
Maybe it won’t get shite on here
LSU Baseball Twitter Vid
Those kids left it out on the field
Fontenot stepped up last night, he will be a leader next season imo

I hope he didn’t strain that shoulder, back, elbow, or has a sore arm next year.

He was outstanding, and that's an understatement. The whole time he was putting up zero's, I kept thinking "it would be an unbelievable shame if the bats waste this performance".
In the end, he gets an "L" next to his name, but in reality he was pretty much the only reason LSU was still in it.

Agreed. Bookmarked this thread to bump it before his first start next year so people remember.

Hope we can find another Fontenot or two for next season. Combine that hold-the-line mentality with his talent and you've got a bedrock of the pitching staff.

What he did was impressive!

That was a hell of a game for him. Unfortunate outcome. His team failed him.
