Portland is the darkhorse team. Here is there plan according to a Western Conf exec:

So, they trade for AD, using CJ (& others) and sign Lillard to an extension this summer. They try to convince AD to stay like OKC w/ PG, Tor w/ Kawhi. If they do, awesome. If not, they put Lillard on the block and go full rebuild.

Right now, they can offer CJ and Collins, and apparently they are offering some expiring contracts for worse contracts and getting picks to add to the package (think E. Turner for Batum, #12, 36, and future 2nds).

This is crazy, my head is still spinning from this bomb. I havent processed it fully yet. Figured typing it out might help, but I still dont know if I love it for Pels or not. And I cant figure out if I think thats bold or dumb for Portland

I guess, best case scenario for Pels is you get something like CJ, Collins, Harkless, #12, 26, and a future 1st for AD and Solo.

He said earlier today he expects a bunch of leaks by the end of the week and this to be done by next Monday or Tuesday.

I think we all expected for some out of left field type trade offers. Interested to see who else jumps in for AD.

more competition is always good for hoping to drive up the price but I do not care at all for that package.

CJ is the best player in any package but will be making A LOT and the rest of that package is total poo.

But it’s really similar to the Kawhi Derozan deal, so I could see a GM seeing the appeal of getting a player of that caliber. Not a fan though.

If they're able to get a top 12 pick to add to CJ and Collins I think it definitely puts them near the top of the list. Jrue and CJ in the same backcourt would be fun to watch.

Would also be interesting to see if you could get a 2021 or 2022 first from them (maybe with top 3-5 protection). If they do end up going full rebuild that could be valuable.

CJ, Harkless, Collins, 12, 26 isn’t a bad haul. I’d want some future picks in the event things go sour for them but interesting proposition

Just an FYI:

CJ has two years left at 27 and 29 million. You’ll obviously have to try and extend him.

Hark is an expiring at 11.

Collins has a few years left on a rookie deal.

This isn’t to surprising, there was speculation they would offer cj and pieces before. They are kinda like the raptors in that their roster is maxed out so they have to shake it up. Lillard and cj are kinda redundant. Still prefer Boston if we can get Tatum, Brown, and Grizz pick...

CJ is good but we already have Jrue and I rather Jrue not go back to the PG position

Yup Jake already discussed them as an out of left field candidate. The Lockd on Trailblazers podcaster offered him a deal similar to this out of nowhere in their mock draft.

Maybe that podcaster has heard some rumblings.

I wonder in that scenario if you could trade 12 26 and Harkless for something a little bit better to add to that package.

It is the kind of package that has a very high downside because you know what you are getting in the case of CJ and Harkless and would let us compete immediately.

Salaries-

CJ - $27m for 2019-2020, $29m for 2020-2021
Harkless - $11.5m for 2019-2020
Collins - $4m for 2019-2020, $5.4m team option for 2020-2021, $7.6m QO for 2021-2022

The money is higher than we would be dealing with elsewhere but we are effectively turning Hill into Harkless and Collins. Hill leaving is addition by subtraction, so having a 3 who started 50+ games for a WCF team is a good step up.

I'm not screaming "take it!", as Boston has a good mix of talent and future picks, but this is definitely an option if we want to jumpstart a winner. And is yet another option which makes the Laker offer look like crap.

can't wait to see what happens in the next 7-10 days. I think there will be some other out of left field offers

McCollum and Jrue would be a nasty backcourt

Would like to get that Simmons kid as well. Don’t think any of this will happen but just to be used as extra leverage. Not a bad deal tho

Like McCollum but I don’t like him @30 when his contract is up. I would prefer an up and coming prospect under 25 on a friendly contract.

Kinda hard to find much fault in getting a bonafide all-star back. Only downside is the contract he'll have to be paid.

It's without question the highest floor of any trade offer I've seen.

Agreed, but at least if this is being circulated around the league it’ll pressure some teams
